Chapter 8

Sootpaw's POV
At her warrior ceremony

I padded to where Blackstar was standing, he had called me up, Oakpaw was now Oakclaw, Longpaw, was Longtail, and Fernpaw was Ferngully. I passed Longtail, he gave me a dissapointed look, his beige tan fur bristled at Spiderpaw, Raveneyes was Longtail's mentor. I felt bad for Longtail, but then I felt worse for Spiderpaw.

I turned my attention back to Blackstar, "Sootpaw, you've trained hard for the past few moons, and now you've earned your warrior name, even with Leopardclaw's sudden disappearance, you've still lived up to your reputation in this clan. Mouseheart trained u well, and know I call down our starclan spirits to honor my choice. Sootpaw from know on till u pass and join them your warrior name will be know as Sootpelt for your bravery, and speed.

Blackstar bowed to me, and I did the same. Then the cats in the clearing started to chant my new name, "Sootpelt! Sootpelt! Sootpelt!" pride filled up in my body, and I smiled at Blackstar. The meeting was dismissed, and the cats went away to continue their day. Oakclaw, and Spiderpaw ran up to me.

"Congratulations Sootpelt!" Spiderpaw and Oakclaw said in union. "Thanks guys, hey Spiderpaw hows your training doing?" I asked as I looked at him, "Oh, um, its ok I guess. Mouseheart is teaching me how to attack a underbelly" he explained looking at the ground sadly, "He's upset because he was meant to get his warrior name, but since what happened Blackstar hasn't let him get it yet" Oakclaw said to me as Spiderpaw continued to look at the ground.

"Oh, Spiderpaw I'm so sorry." I said to him as I nuzzled him to comfort him better. Spiderpaw returned the nuzzle and sighed, then I saw Blackstar disappear into the medicine den.

"Oh, I have to go somewhere, I'll cya guys soon. Bye!" I cried behind my shoulder as I took off towards the medicine den. I heard Oakclaw say something but I didn't pick it up. But then I slowed my pace, and crept up to the den, I heard voices.

Oakclaw's POV
"Sootpelt, wait I!" I tried to say, but she disappeared before I could catch her again, sighing I noticed Spiderpaw heading out of the camp, "Hey, Spiderpaw where u going?" I said as I trotted up to him, "Hunting with Mouseheart, so I'll cya later. Bye Oakclaw" Spiderpaw said quickly before dashing off after the she cat.

Sighing I turned around, and noticed Ferngully, and Honeypool coming up too me. The orange and black she cat came up first, "Hello Ferngully, congrats" I greeted her. She purred at me, then Honeypool came up with her orange, and yellow tabby fur.

"Hello Oakclaw, do u want to go hunting with us? We asked Longtail, but he already has better things to do." Before I could reply Ferngully piped up, "Yeah, that cat what's his problem?" I shrugged then nodded to Honeypool "Sure, better than sitting around in the camp." as soon as we started to trot off to the entrance, Skimkit ran up to us. "Can I come?" she squeaked Ferngully looked down at her, and shook her head no "No Skimkit, go back to Bluecloud, now." Skimkit lowered her head sadly, and padded slowly back to her mother.

I watched her go back until I felt Ferngully, and Honeypool exit the camp I followed, and let the day slip under my paws.

Sootpelts's POV
I heard voices, Mudfur, Blackstar, and... Darkclaw.

"I-I can't believe it, I'm blind." I heard Darkclaw say.

Blind? Poor Darkclaw, hows he going to continue his duties if he's blind?

I listened for a while, and soon dosed off........

I was on the moor, the wind was blowing, and the sky was dark. A Starclan figure approached me, it was Hazelstar, the previous leader of Windclan. I didn't know her much, she died when I was a kit, but the elders told me about her, especially Cloudbelly.
