Collins' magic performance that night was amazing. Of course, I knew all his tricks, but seeing the crowd in awe always made me proud to have Collins as my brother. I must have zoned out, because next thing I knew, the crowd around me stood up in a storm of cheers and applause. I jumped to my feet and did the same.

*After the show at Collins Party*
I went to the washroom to fix my hair and get away from all the noise of the party outside. The chorus of voices and the pumping music gets a little overwhelming to me. Then I hear the door make a thud, signalling arrival of somebody else. To my surprise, a girl walks in, and stops and stares.

"Oh my god.." she cries. "I'm so sorry! I must've walked into the wrong washroom!" She looked at me with shock and started out the door.

"Wait!" I say. "It's ok, I was just fixing my hair anyways." I smile at her warmly and she smiles back and walks out the door.

Her smile... It was gorgeous. I need to see it again.

I hurry out the door after her, searching the crowds for her dark, flowing hair and her emerald green eyes. There. There she is. I rush over without thinking, and she sees me standing in front of her. She looks shocked, but a sense of relief washes over her face.

"Did I forget something in there?" She asks

"Yeah" I said. "Me." She looked at me. Her eyes locked with mine. I felt my face get hot, so I looked down. "Sorry" I whisper. I start to walk away, thinking about how stupid that was. I guess the men in our  family have an odd way with girls. I still remember my mom telling us how Dad proposed to her on the first date.

"Nonono..no. I.. it's ok.." Next thing I knew her hand was wrapped around mine. "Follow me." She said calmly as she began to walk off, her hand in mine.

She lead me to an outside plaza. Flowers dampened by the evening shimmered off of the light from the lampposts around the garden. Hedges fenced the perimeter of the parks and the grass was soft and short. The moon twinkled high above us and stars shone magnificently like magic. It's almost as beautiful as her, but not quite.

"So.." I started. "I didn't seem to catch your name."

"Avery" she said. She pulled me onto a bench and we sat down.

"Well, that's a beautiful name, Avery. My name is Devan. Devan Key."

"Yeah, I know. Famous Instagrammer, brother of a famous internet sensation and magician. Yeah."

"Your eyes.." I whisper. "They're.. stunning..."

"Hmph. They're almost as beautiful as yours."

Before I could even smile, her lips were on mine. Life drowned out, all my issues ever, gone. I didn't remember anything. Nobody else mattered but us. I kissed her back and smiled. She said nothing as she passed me a piece of paper. She got up and walked back into the building, leaving me there bewildered and thoughts buzzing through my head.
