The death defying voice stopped me from plunging the knife into the person's skull.  I nearly chocked on seeing who it was, it was the evil jackass Nick Hagglen. He was always a jerk to me and my friends, he would always start out nice, but it was just for show. He always wore his stupid Russia and thought he was better than everyone. I hated him with all my guts, he does more than anyone even knows to make anyone hate him.

"Why should I?" I questioned him with an icy tone of voice.

"Well, first of all, if you kill me you would be considered a murderer, and no one would like you. I was just a person asking for your help and you kill me. How do you think people will react to that?" Nick remarked with a prideful smirk that I wanted to slap right off. I dropped my arm to my side letting out a deep breath.

"Fine, what-" I was cut off by Austin.

"You know what? We don't have to hear you out right now so you either stop giving us snide remarks or you can follow us until we find more weapons with your mouth shut" I was shocked. I let my reaction dissipate into my smirking to myself. I let out a tiny laugh as I walked away searching through the rest of the room.

After we searched the janitor's office and closet running into a few zombies we made our way back to the classroom. More people filled up the room. My friends were back, and they brought their siblings and other survivors. I scanned the faces seeing all the fear and anguish. I saw my friend Lauren and walked over to her.

"Hey"

"Hi, by the way I found Andrea and Rosabella their ok. They are at the back. I also found my brothers and sister." Lauren gave me a sad smile.

"That's good. We are going to need to get out of her though. I don't know how though. Why did I even step up to be leader?" I questioned running the thoughts through my head. I sat down putting my face in my hands. I let out a sigh.

"You're a good leader. Most of us probably wouldn't have lived this long without you. Once we get out of here you can take a break, let the adults handle it." I thought about, she was right though. If I made it far enough everything would be ok if I got everyone out.

"Madeline? We need to go talk with Nick, but I know your probably not going to be happy about this, but he is coming with us one way or another." I mentally groan by hearing this, but I must be mature. I get up nodding at Lauren and seeing Raven.

"Raven! Your back!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah, but I didn't think I would be greeted by his smug face." I knew what she meant by him, we shared a common enemy since he is on our bus.

"I know, I don't like it either, but we don't have a choice. Trust me I hate him as much you do."

"Ok, have fun dealing with him. I'll be over chatting while you have to look at his smug face." She chuckled and walked away.

"You betrayed me. I call this war!" I joked walking towards the despised.

"If you do anything to hurt anyone or slow us down I will shoot you myself." I spat at Nick.

"Go ahead and try." He warned me. He was going to say something else, but I walked away. Austin had already announced to everyone that we are leaving.

We all got ready to leave the room with out weapons ready. We walked through the front doors, opening a new world to us changing our lives.
