Hey guys! So this is my first published book here and I've spent a lot of time on this and the first chapter! I hope you like it! <3 ~A
My eyes flutter open slowly as I wake up to my mother screaming to me from downstairs in the kitchen. "Nova! Get down here! You can't just sleep the day away!" she yells. I groan, pull the covers over my head, and roll over in my warm bed, trying to tune her out.My room has never been flooded with light in the morning like everyone living on the west side of our secluded city, Glacia. The east side of the city, where I live, doesn't get sunlight until around noon.
This is because of the ginormous wall that surrounds Glacia. It was built at the beginning of World War VI to protect us from the chaos that was going on on the outside. Apparently it was "too gruesome to expose us to." That's why the government keeps us all trapped in here, forbidden to have curiosity.
We call the world on the other side of the wall The Lost. In school, we were taught that all those who ventured into The Lost were never seen again. I've often wondered if that's even true. If there were actually people who were daring enough to travel out of Glacia. Even if it was true, what if those people never came back only because they found something better. Some PLACE better. I let these thoughts travel through my brain only to push them out again because I can't help but feel that they are completely irrational.
Oh well. I guess it's better to live knowing everyone is safe in here rather than knowing what it's really like on the outside.
