Chapter 7

* Alana's POV *

August had dropped me off at the apartment. I walked inside & Candice came down the stairs with tears in her eyes.

Alana: What's wrong?

Candice: Rico got shot.

Alana: You know Rico?

Candice: That's Ashton & Aaron's daddy.

Alana: What?

Candice: Me & Rico have history. We dated & then I had the boys. Things didn't turn out right. That's why I always told you be careful who you trust around here.

Alana: I'm sorry Candice.

Candice: It's okay. I just can't believe it. Maybe we should've made everything better between us so the kids could have time to spend with him.

Alana: Yeah.

She got up & walked upstairs to her room. I sat down on the couch, trying to piece everything back together. So much had already happened.

* August's POV *

Sitting at the hospital in the waiting room with Kat, KD, & Tony. Rico's mom walked in with tears rolling down her cheek.

Rico's mom: Where's my son August?

August: He's in that room right there.

I pointed to the room & she ran in. She was scared at the sight of him laying on the bed & everything hooked up to him because she started screaming. It broke my heart for her to see him like that. I sat down in the waiting room, & Candice walked in.

Candice: August, which room?

August: That one.

She walked inside & joined Rico's mom crying. KD shut the room door & wiped his face.

August: I wanna find out who did this shit to him.

KD: You ain't the only one & we gone find out.

Tony: I done put my nigga Man on it. Maybe the streets talking.

Kat: Need to find out ASAP.

Candice walked back out the room holding Rico's mom hand. Rico's mom gave me a hug.

August: I can promise you I won't let this shit slide.

Rico's mom: I know you won't.

She placed a kiss on my cheek & Candice walked with her out into the parking lot. Tony's phone started ringing.

Tony: It's Man.

Kat: What's happening?

Tony: Wassup man? What you got for us? Oh word? Aight bruh.

He hung up the phone & turned facing us. I stood up.

Tony: It was Quan nem bitch asses.

August: I got some for them.

* Alana's POV *

Candice walked back in the house & I stood up.

Alana: He's okay?

Candice: In a coma. It just felt good to see him again. It's been a minute.

Alana: Yeah.

Candice sat down on the couch. She smiled at me.

Candice: I think August needs you right now.

Alana: I know.

Candice: Get over there with your man.

Alana: Are you sure? I can stay here with you & the boys.

Candice: Girl, go find August. He's having a hard time right now.

I got up & walked outside walking to the local hospital.

* August's POV *

I sat down beside Rico's bed. Watching the monitors & he opened his eyes turning to me.

August: We found out who did this bruh, we gone get they asses.

Rico: Quan.

August: Yeah.

Rico: Momma came?

August: Yeah. Candice too.

Rico: Candice?

August: Yeah.

Rico put his hand up for some dap & I dapped him. Walking out the room,  the doctor met me.

Dr: Um, are you here for this patient?

August: Yeah. Is he straight?

Dr: Yes, he's going to be fine. He lost significant amount of blood, but not to much that threatens death. He should be fine, we're going to keep close look on him for a couple days.

August: Aight, thanks.

Dr: You're welcome.

* Alana's POV *

I walked inside the hospital & August was talking to the doctor. I waited for them to finish their conversation & he walked over towards me.

Alana: Is he okay?

August: He gone be straight.

Alana: That's good.

August: Yeah.

He walked with me over to the waiting area & I gave him a hug. He wrapped his arms around me so tight.

August: I got some business to handle tonight.

He walked back over to KD, Kat, & Tony. I went right back up to him.

Alana: I wanna go with you tonight.

August: Sure?

Alana: Yeah.
