Chapter 18

* Alana's POV *

Days had passed & all I did was sit in the house in the bedroom. The curtains stayed shut just because I didn't want any light shining in. I just really wanted to be to myself. Seemed like everyone was out to get me. I laid there in the bed dozing back off to sleep.

* August's POV *

All Alana did was sit in the room in the dark. She didn't even get out of the bed. All she wanted to do was sleep. I had tried everything, even Candice had come over to try & talk to her which still didn't work.

5 Days Later...

* Alana's POV *

I woke up & decided that I'd get out of bed. I opened the curtains letting the sun shine through the windows. August woke up squinting his eyes at how bright the sun was & looking towards me.

August: Morning.

Alana: Goodmorning.

I turned around & smiled at him. Walking into the bathroom closing the door behind me to take me a bath. I decided I would go over to Candice's since it had been a minute. I knocked in the door & Candice screamed grabbing me in a hug.
Alana: Hey!
Candice: Hey girl! I've missed you.
Alana: Missed you too.

I took a seat on the couch while she went into the kitchen grabbing me some tea.
Candice: So, I heard about what happened. You okay?
Alana: Taking it a day at a time.
Candice: Anything you want to talk about?
Alana: Not really. Just a bad experience.
Candice: I know.
Alana: I don't think anybody knows.
Candice: I know exactly how you feel. The reason why I connect with you more than any other of these females is because I was you.
Alana: What?
Candice: I moved out here for better at 17. Met someone I thought actually loved me. He beat me. I even found out I was pregnant, which I later miscarried cause of the abuse. I worked in a club, I took care of a man I thought loved me. Then, I met Rico... Everything changed. Next thing I know, I ended up pregnant again. Things didn't quite work out as planned with Rico, but now here we are.

She smiled & placed her hand in front of me showing off her ring.
Alana: Congrats! I'm happy for y'all.
Candice: Thanks boo. He finally put it on there. I've waited on this forever. You just don't know, although I feel he only did it because of baby #3.
Alana: Rico got somebody else pregnant? Wow.
Candice: No girl, me!
Alana: You're pregnant?
Candice: Yes girl. Went to the doctor & I'm 8 weeks.
Alana: Wow. You excited?
Candice: At first, I didn't know how I was gonna manage, but now I'm very excited. Hoping for another boy, me & Rico both. We plan to wed soon & move out of here into a house.
Alana: I'm with y'all every step of the way.
Candice: I know boo. Enough of me, what's happening between you & August?
Alana: Nothing really. He's just really been there for me through everything.
Candice: That's good. Y'all should be together.
Alana: Yeah, well... I don't think that will happen. I just know I better be a bridesmaid!

Candice bursted into laughter.
Candice: Of course!
