It started on my fourteenth birthday. I was having a dinner party with my friends and family, like I always did instead of having a party at the laser tag arena.

I did this because my parents raised me to be like this; have good manners, dress nice, be on my best behavior, speak properly, etc. Now, I'm not rich, but I'm just a little above middle class. My parents could afford quite a bit, but I was never flamboyant about having nice things. In fact, I'm quite the opposite.

Anyways, I was dressed in a tuxedo with my dark blonde hair slicked back with gel, my bangs in a comb over type of style, complimenting my sea green eyes, making them stand out. At least, that's what my mother said all the time. I came out of my bedroom looking like I did, and I went into the kitchen to see what I could help with. My mom turned around when I walked into the room.

"Oh, Jay, you look so handsome," my mom said, hugging me. "Just like your father."

"Thanks, mom." She was kind of suffocating me, so I pushed away. Just then, the doorbell rang.

"Oh, guests are arriving. Go and let them in."

"Okay, mom." I walked to the door and opened it. It was my grandpa. Good Lord, who invited him?

"Oh, uh, hello grandpa. I, uh, wasn't expecting you to come." We don't talk to him. He was in Vietnam, and after he came home a hero, he became deeply involved in the government. He always tried to

"Well, I couldn't miss your birthday, now could I?" He was happy and chipper. Ugh, it made me shudder.

"Right, well, uh, right this way. Would you like me to take your coat?"

"No, I'll be fine, thanks." We walked into the kitchen, and my mother turned around. She nearly jumped.

"Oh, David, I wasn't expecting you!" My mom faked a smile, then called my father down. He can't down the stairs in a tuxedo just like mine, every one of his hairs perfectly in place. He looked happy, his eyes bright and ready for a great night, until he saw Grandpa.

"Oh, dad, I didn't think you were coming over."

"Well, couldn't miss the young man's most important birthday, now could I?"

"Well, it wasn't necessary to show up, was it?" my dad clenching his fists, and I could see why.

"Oh, but it was." Grandpa turned towards me. "You, young man, have been asked to do a very important job for the country."

"Hell no!" I yelled. "Do you think I'm stupid? I'm not doing it. Now get your ass out of my father's house or so help me God I'll kick it out myself!" This is what my grandpa did at special occasions; ruin them by trying to get us into the military or involve us in the government.

"Ooh, so your man enough to threaten me but your too scared to serve your country?"

"Apparently so."

"Well, you don't have a choice." Then, my mother screamed, my dad fell to the floor, and then everything went black.
