Eden

"Get me out of this cage! I'm not an animal!"She grasped the bars with both hands and shook them as hard as she could.

"And get this stupid neck collar off me!"

Her little rant of frustration was interrupted as she received a shock to her neck, leaving her breathless. Almost paralyzed.

"I. Want. Out". She finished with her voice hard as steel and let go of the bars in despair, leaning against the wall of her confinement.

Just across from her own cage another inmate with slender, pale hands, began to fiddle with the bars for amusement and spoke, "Well said Eden....", The mysterious voice came off as feminine and slid closer to the light, also gripping onto the bars, showing a devious smile that was illuminated in the dark by the poorly lit lights hanging from the ceiling. "Very well said".

Eden shifted and looked away from her mysterious friend and instead closed her eyes, listening to the far off screams from the dank and poorly lit hallways.

They weren't the only ones caged by whoever is in charge, and no one here was normal, instead they were labeled as INHUMAN or MONSTROUS.

A mechanical door opened and 3 men came out and walked toward Eden's cage, ignoring the sounds around them.

One was known as The Warden (caretaker in his own words), he made sure that everyone was at least fed and didn't die on his watch but his methods were unnecessarily unnecessary. The food wasn't edible in the least and caused food poisoning from time to time, others chose to starve and would be force fed.

If you were to misbehave you were shocked, electrocuted in other terms. Eden remembers the first time she was introduced to this form of correctional treatment.

"One shock causes a mild headache and numbness throughout the body, depending on who you are, some will hurt more than others. The second will cause you to lose consciousness and when you wake faint loss of memory or migraine. Also tension within muscles. If you are shocked the third time.....", He paused and looked at her with a threatening smile plastered on his face. "Not many have actually survived and it would indeed be disappointing if we were to lose any of you".

Two of the other men were guards that each held fire arms and dressed in military like uniform. They never spoke and gave off no expression, their eyes were almost dead and they only did as they were told.

The warden opened the cage and shown a flashlight onto Eden, illuminating her cage and revealed her physical attributes. Her sickly pale but natural skin, decorated in thorn like patterns over her arms in addition to her once blonde now long white hair, green eyes and rose petal lips, were nothing compared to her wings.

Her wings were as beautiful as an angels but were tainted and dark as night, leaving dried blood from their first appearance on her boney back. She as a whole looked sick and weak, like a newly hatched bird that died on it's first flight. Her wings weighing so much and dragging her constantly. Can you believe that she wasn't born this way?

She shivered from the cold air coming from the vents and tried to resist the guards that were now taking a hold of her. "No! I don't want to go today!!", She yelled but her voice was strained and did her no good. The warden took his hands and cupped her face with his gloved hands, "What's the point in struggling my child". He let the guards carry her away for some more testing, her protests only chilling the bones of children also imprisoned against their will.

"And you my dear Obsidian, are you ready? Because it's your turn tomorrow", He bent down towards the girl and smirked. With such speed she came up to the bars and held The Warden by the throat choking the life out of him, watching him squirm and smiled, "I don't know, am I?".

The Warden tried to speak with a strained voice, and with a last attempt to save his life he pulled a remote from his pocket and pressed the red button signalling for help. An electric shock overcame Obsidian and she let go of his neck, leaving red marks on his collar and receiving electrocution from her own.

"You know if we could I'd have you killed on the spot but The Head wants you alive", The Warden held his throat and coughed, trying to take in more air. "Well... isn't....that just- great", Obsidian said and fell unconscious but smiled listening to the screams of other inmates across the hall that were music to her ears.

Eden was taken to a white room, empty with only a desk before her and chair to sit in, for precaution her hands were in shackles and her ankles chained to the ground. She looked straight ahead at the two way glass and stared with almost dead eyes only quickly glancing at the speakers in the corners of the roof.

She always wondered why her life had taken such a rough turn. How she ended up where she was, what could get her out.

Everything was so simple she thought to herself.

"Eden are you ready"
