Another job interview... My mom dropped me off because I'm still grounded. Why can't she understand? I don't need a job I make enough money being a dealer and that's the only thing I'm good at anyway. The car suddenly stopped. "The movie theatre? Really mom?!" She was starting to make a game out of this. She would send my resume to every help wanted ad in the Sunday newspaper and whoever asked for an interview would get to see my lovely face and wonder why they were living in this world. "Amanda I'm only doing this because I love you. If you didn't drop out of school you wouldn't have to do this." My mother was always so nice about everything. She tried so hard to keep me safe. I got out of the front seat and slammed the door. Why me? I thought. Why can't I just be myself and be left alone? My ankle bracelet beeped in response. This was my first interview since I for arrested. The bracelet, I called Beepers, was on my right ankle and forced me to limp because it was so heavy. I opened the giant door to the theatre and walked in. The clock said it was noon. I walked to the ticket counter. "Hello miss what would you like to see today?" "I'm here for a job interview, my name is Amanda Walkers." "Oh nice to meet you Amanda my name is Derek!" So far so good. Derek was really tall and looked like he was in his 20's. He had a gold vest and a big button advertising the new super spicy popcorn. I shook his hand and he led me to his office. Once he closed the office door I have him my resume and he looked surprised. "So Amanda what high school do you go to?" "Oh I dropped out of school last year. But I went to Riverview." He scribbled down some notes in a giant notebook and asked me some more questions. "Okay Ms. Walkers you look like a great candidate for any of the jobs we have open!" "Thanks, Derek." "Anytime! So Amanda why do you want to work at AMC? I figured this question was coming but still hadn't figured out my response. I thought I would do what I always do and wing it. "Umm... Well... You know Derek? I've always wanted to work at AMC because movies are my passion." "Oh really? Why are movies your passion?" Oh god... I thought. This was when I started to panic. "The actors and actresses work so hard at their jobs and the only way they're appreciated is by people going to see their movies and enjoy a bucket of AMC's new super spicy popcorn!" I said with a smile so big and fake it made my jaw hurt. Derek's face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Wow Amanda! That's the kind of enthusiasm I like my workers to have! I will send your resume and these notes I took to my boss. Please expect to get a call back!" I was shocked. "Your joking right?" "No I'm not Ms. Walkers you are AMC movie material." "Okay thank you so much!" "You are so very welcome! Thanks for your time and talk to you soon!" I didn't know if I wanted to punch the walk in or be excited. I walked out of his office and felt like I was going to be sick. I ran out of the movie theatre to find my moms silver SUV parked on the corner. "How did it go honey?" "I bet you did great!" She was asking me endless questions I didn't know the answer for so I just kept quiet. I still wasn't feeling well and as soon as we got onto the freeway I put the window down and threw up onto the pavement.
