The moment I stepped onto Orchid, I was tackled by something big, and I landed on my back with a heavy grunt.
My vision was blurred and my head throbbed. I shook my head a few times to clear it, and in a way I wish I hadn’t.
In front of me was a dog, but it was twice as big as a normal dog, even bigger then a Great Dane. It’s fur was jet black, huge gashes were made in its fur, bloodless and filled with disgusting white maggots giving the fur white patches. Its eyes were a bright scarlet red, its fangs long and blood dripped slowly. Spikes that suspiciously looked like bone sprouted from its back, a kind of barrier of some sort. The monster growled and the sound rumbled the ground.
“Uh… down boy?” I called to it, each word dragging out with fear.
The monster barked a terrible roar, making the ground tremble like a mini earthquake, causing me to lie flat on my back once again. It growled as it bent its hind legs, ready to pounce on me.
With a scream I got up and began to run. My feet pounded the street as the ground quivered below me, almost making me trip. I dared turn my head to look behind me as I was running.
The dog monster was running after me, its teeth bared and huffing. It was ganging up on me, getting closer as it went faster and myself getting slightly slower from lack of energy. I screamed and tried to force myself to run, but my head was still throbbing painfully from landing on the ground.
I screamed as I felt something large hit the back of my legs. I tumbled forward, my body twisting uncomfortably. My right shoulder landed on the ground and I began rolling forward, my back and neck twisting painfully. I cried out in pain as I landed on my stomach, the wind being knocked out of me.
Slowly, I flipped onto my back, crying out in horrible pain as I winced and put my hand on my shoulder gently. I gasped when I saw the monster’s face close to mine. Its eyes looked hungry, its mouth opened as it lowly growled.
“Get away from me!” I screamed as I took my gun with my free hand and shot it multiple times in its mouth. It roared with rage and pain as it swatted at me with its enormous paw. I screamed as I was hit and flung into a car, my body denting the metal.
Blood poured from the beast’s mouth, and it coughed up bullets. It glared at me with its unnatural red eyes and roared angrily. It tensed up again and ran at me.
I felt my eyes widen as the beast got closer. I closed my eyes and screamed, ready for my death.
The sound of a machine gun started firing off as well as the sound of a normal gun. My vision began to blur again, but I managed to see the familiar blonde and jet black hair.
They stopped arguing to come find me… I thought with relief.
The beast roared with pain as it swiped at them both with its paws, but Al and Riley managed to dodge them. Al’s machine gun went off again, and this time only a squeal escaped the monster’s mouth.
“Jennette!” I heard Riley shout my name. I felt him shake my shoulder and I screamed loudly, I could barely move my arm which scared me.
“We got to get her to a safe place,” Al said as he walked behind Riley.
“Right,” Riley agreed. “Can you get up, Jen?” he asked me.
I sighed shakily. My head really hurt, I just wanted to sleep.
“Don’t close you eyes, Jennette.” Al said to me. “You might have a concussion.”
I barely heard him. I closed my eyes, they were so heavy, my body felt heavy. I wanted to sleep for awhile.
