Molu has just finished his breakfast of oatmeal, berries, and honey as Alven knocked on his door. "Come on in Alven!" Molu hastily carried his dishes to the counter.
"You saved some for me, I hope."
"Of course not. Let's get going."
Molu smirked at Alven and handed him a bowl of plain oatmeal. "Well, you did ask."
"Ok, Ok. Let's just go." Molu and Alven filed out Molu's front door, Molu locking it behind him. "I left my horse in the back with yours," Alven said. "We head to the castle and pick up the diplomat, then the barracks to get the soldiers."
As they began to head down the street, a light rain began. "Hopefully it doesn't get too much worse," Molu said. "I hate travelling in the rain."
"So do I, but at least you live close to the castle."
"Both a blessing and a curse. The trumpets are extremely annoying when you are trying to sleep."
Alven laughed quietly to himself. "We've arrived."
-----
"Welcome back, General Maera, Captain Hallen."
"It's our pleasure to escort you to the kingdom of Stonevera and back, Manu," Alven said. "But we must leave in haste. The king wants you to Stonevera as soon as possible. After we get other soldiers, we will come back here. Please have your caravan ready to leave and all that you will need loaded onto it."
"I will be ready, General."
As Alven and Molu headed out the front gate, Molu remarked, "Can't wait to go on a trip with that guy, eh?"
"He isn't too bad once you get to know him," Alven replied. "This rain is really picking up. Hopefully it isn't like this all the way to Stonevera."
"I've heard of monsoons this time of year. hopefully this isn't one."
Alven huddled down into his cloak. " I don't know about you, but I'm staying warm until we get to the barracks."
-----
"COMMANDING OFFICERS ENTERING THE BARRACKS!" Officer Brell shouted.
Alven and Molu entered the barracks to 30 soldiers standing at attention.
"Officer Brell, great to see you again," Molu commented.
"I will be picking five of you to join me and Captain Hallen to protect diplomat Manu Lora on a alliance request with Stonevera. I want Dolan, Karo, Botrami, Zaru, and Haru. Gather your things and meet us at the front gate of the castle."
