"The king will see you now," The king's assistant said.
The pair stepped into the King's lavish throne room. Massive stained glass windows filled the room with an array of colors, covering everything in a glimmering sheen of purple, red, green, blue, and yellow. "Almost like stepping into another world," General Maera thought. "It's no surprise that no matter how many times I enter the throne room, I am always amazed at what great treasures the king has for himself." He glanced over to the intricate stone statues of mythical animals and luxurious paintings filled with battle scenes. His eyes caught on a large gold dragon, flames of lapis-lazuli and quartz spewing from its open mouth, inches away from a second dragon's ruby flames.
"You summoned us, my king," General Maera announced, snapping his gaze to the king.
"Ah yes, my most trusted soldiers. I have for you an extremely essential bit of information. You must regard this with utmost concern, for this is vital to our status in the upcoming the war." King Galvin continued, "You must choose a squad of soldiers, and take our best diplomat with you, protecting him at all costs. You are to bring him to the king of Stonevera, and see what it will take to get them as allies. You will have a promotion waiting if you are able to get him there and back within the week."
"Yes sir!" Both Captain Hallen and General Maera chorused.
"I am glad you both agree to this. Be ready to leave at dawn in one day, and we should be able to seal our win for this war," King Galvin added.
As the two exited the throne room, General Maera remarked to Captain Hallen; " I think its time we train some new elites after we get back from Stonevera. Our armies aren't getting any larger."
"And WE aren't getting any younger." Hallen remarked.
Maera laughed. "You always knew how to bring laughter to a situation, my friend."
