"Diggy! Tell your girlfriend to sing for me!" Elise screamed in my phone. "Elise, if you don't give me my phone back..." I heard Diggy laughing. "Babe, you might as well sing for her." I gasped. "Oh so you're on her side, huh?" She smiled and he snickered. "I didn't say that... But it's pretty obvious you're not getting your phone back until you sing for her, darling." He paused. "Plus, your voice is absolutely amazing. Go ahead and sing for us." I started to blush and smile. "Good one, Diggy." I rolled my eyes and cleared my throat. "Whatcha gonna sing, babe?" I pushed my hair back. "Does it matter?" Elise laughed. "When you're ready..."
"Pills and potions.
We're overdosing.
I'm angry but I still love you.
Pills and potions.
We're overdosing.
Can't stand it but I still love you."
I sing the beginning of Nicki Minaj's Pills and Potions. Diggy and Elise were silent. "Happy now?" A smile started to form on her face. "Why'd you stop?! You could've spit them verses!" He laughed. "Hush up, Daniel. Elise, can I have my phone back now?" She rolled her eyes. "Even though you only sang for like two seconds... I guess I'll give you your phone." She turned my phone around slowly in her hand. She stretched her arm out slowly towards me. "Elise! Stop being childish!" I reached for my phone. "Ah, ah, ah. Patience, young grasshopper." I huffed out a breath. "You're getting on my nerves."
"Babe, wanna come over?" I held the phone between my shoulder and ear while I kicked my basketball on the floor. "Why?" I heard Diggy snicker. "Since when did I have to give you a reason to come over? You'd normally just come over..." I didn't say anything. "Well if you must know, I was wondering if you could help me pack..." My heart dropped. "And then after I was gonna take you out." Diggy continued and I sighed. "You know I leave on Wednesday..." I put my head down. "Yeah, I know... Um, when do you want me over?" He blew out a breath. "Now is fine if you don't mind." I stood up. "Be there in ten,"
"Can you hand me that belt?" Diggy pointed to the blue belt lying on the floor across the room. I nodded and walked over towards the belt. I tossed it to him and he put it in one of his suitcases. He looked at me while I sat on the floor. I zipped his first suitcase closed and he walked towards me. "I know this is hard for you, baby..." He sat next to me. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and pulled me into him. "I'm fine, Diggy." He placed a kiss on the top of my head. He pushed my hair behind my ear. "I think that's enough packing for today, darling." He stood up and grabbed my hand. "C'mon," He put his keys in his pocket. "Where we going?" I grabbed my purse. "You'll see,"
"I'm paranoid.
I'm trippin'.
I've been smoking, and sipping.
I'm f*cking around with two b*tches.
But I never made them h*es my misses."
"This is my song." I smiled while singing Paranoid. "I never knew you listened to music like this..." Diggy smirked at me. "Music like what?" He glanced at me. "Music with profanity." I rolled my eyes. "Mostly all music has profanity, Dig." He shook his head. "Not really," I gave him a disapproving look. "Like yours," His jaw dropped. "Aye chill," I laughed. "You're really the only rapper I've known not to cuss." He shook his head. "I've said nigga a few times in my songs. Like 88, Unforgivable Blackness..." I put my hand up. "Noo... You had the part in there, but the word nigga was never said." He licked his lips and took a deep breath. "And now that I think of it nigga really isn't a curse word... So you really don't count now, man." He shook his head. "I really don't see why it matters..." I sighed. He was getting irritated now. "Dig, you were the one who brought this up. You made it seem like it mattered... But you're right, it doesn't." He was silent. The car was quiet as he turned down this street named James. The street was filled with beautiful, tall houses. "Whose house are we going to?" He pulled into the driveway that belonged to this huge, beige house. "This is my boy T's house."
I leaned against the car while Diggy pulled out his phone. "Yeah T, we're outside." Who in the hell is T? Diggy hung up the phone and motioned me towards the house. I shook my head. "Whose house are we at?" He smirked at me. "Babe, are you scared? You really don't think I'd take you anywhere that's unsafe, do you?" I shook my head. "Take my hand," He stretched his hand out towards me. I grabbed it and we started walking towards the front door. I looked at the ground as I heard the door open. "Hey D!" Diggy pulled me closer to him as I continued to look at the ground. "Babe, stop being so shy. He won't bite you." I heard him laugh. "Yeah, I won't bite." A hand stretched out towards me. I looked up at him. "Hi, I'm Trevor,"
I smiled at him. "I know who you are! You're Trevor Jackson!" He laughed. "This is true. And you are?" I chuckled and blushed. "I-I'm Courtney," Trevor shook my hand. "Nice to meet you, Courtney." I turned to Diggy and gave him an evil glare. "How come you didn't tell me you were taking me to meet Trevor Jackson!?" He laughed. "I wanted it to be a surprise," I rolled my eyes. "You're steady trying to surprise me knowing I hate surprises." I shook my head and Trevor laughed. "This your girl, Dig?" Diggy nodded. "Yes sir," Trevor smiled at me. "She's very beautiful. You gotta good one." I nearly died. "Ohmygod... Thank you." He laughed. "No problem. You all want to go inside? It's getting kinda breezy out here." I nodded. "Well c'mon,"
"You have a very nice home," I smiled as Diggy and I sat on his black couch. Trevor sat across from us. "Why thank you," He folded his hands. I turned to Diggy. "So Dig, why'd you want to stop by?" Diggy sat back. "You know, I just wanted her to meet you... Since we will be going on tour together... And the song..." Wait, what? "Hold up," I closed my eyes for a brief second. "You're going on tour with Trevor Jackson!?" I started freaking out a bit, but wait. What song? "Yeah, Chris said it would be great for the both of us." I ran a hand through my hair. "So wait... What's this song you mentioned a few seconds ago?" Trevor gave Diggy this look. "You haven't told her about the song, man?" He shook his head. "It was a part of the surprise," Trevor laughed. "The song has already been released, Dig..." My jaw dropped. "Wait... You have a new song that you didn't even tell me about... And it's already out!? What's it called?" Ohmygod. "Trevor," He gestured Trevor to tell me. "Well Courtney, the song is called My Girl." I clenched my jaw and nodded. "Even Trevor knew about it?" I folded my arms across my chest and stared at Diggy. Diggy nodded. "Of course he would know about it... He's featuring in it..." What? I paused for a second. I can't believe this. I slowly turned to Trevor. "Play. It. Now." I sat there anxiously. Trevor laughed and I tried to breathe. "Ooh, I'm sorry. I was being rude. I meant to say 'Play. It. Now. Please.'" He chuckled while tapping play on his iPhone. "Oh it's on iTunes too?" I threw my hands up. "Just shut up and listen," Diggy silenced me. I sighed and began to listen.
"First off, let me apologize... For all them other guys who didn't treat you right, girl.
Let me ease your mind, girl.
See, you are just my type, and I ain't no psychic.
But I believe in my world, is that I can read your mind, girl.
My girl.
My girl."
Sweet Jesus.
