Every aspect of the night was perfect. Every star in the galaxy shone through, illuminating the cloudless sky. The crystal snow was life something out of Seokjin's favorite fairy tale. Why, there was even an owl's song echoing through the trees.
The night should have been perfect. But it was cursed by a magic far greater than a simple enchanted rose. It was cursed by the lust for blood.
If only I could say goodbye one last time.
Gaston held a gun, his finger dancing over the trigger.
"Hello, beast. Seokjin sent me." He laughed at the shock in Namjoon's eyes. "What? Do you love him? Did you honestly think he'd ever love you?"
Before Gaston could pull the trigger, an arrow whizzed by his head.
Seokjin dashed across the bridge. "Don't you dare lay a finger on him."
"Seokjin! You came back!"
His expression softened. "Of course I came back, Namjoon."
The moment was destroyed when Gaston gripped Seokjin by the wrist.
"You will marry me..." his voice was gravely and his breathing was ragged. "And that thing's head will hang on our wall."
Namjoon raced to their side on all fours and shoved Gaston aside. He lost his grip on Seokjin and fell off the edge. He gripped on the edge. For the first time in his life, Gaston showed fear and weakness.
"Please. Help me, beast."
Namjoon lifted him up and threw him aside, freeing him.
"I...am not...a beast."
Gaston scampered away. The two ran to Namjoon's crumbling bedroom tower and embraced each other. They were safe.
Or so they thought. Gaston crawled up and shot Namjoon in the back, his wail of pain echoing around the stone walls.
Before he could shoot Namjoon once more, the crumbling stone broke beneath his feet, sending him tumbling to his doom.
Gaston was no more.
Seokjin cradled the wounded Namjoon in his arms.
Namjoon held his hand. "You came back."
"Of course I came back," tears streamed down Seokjin's cheeks. "I'll never leave you again."
Namjoon could feel it in his soul. The final petal had dropped. He couldn't bear to see the expression of despair on Seokjin's face. His own demise did not matter to him. He had eyes only for Seokjin.
"I'm afraid it's my turn to leave."
No. No. Not now. Not when Seokjin finally...
"We're together now, Namjoon. We'll be fine."
"At least I got to see you...one last time..." the pain of the wound was nothing compared to the pain in his heart. Namjoon lived a beast, but he would not die a beast. Seokjin made him human.
And that was all he ever wanted.
"Namjoon! No...please, no!"
The petal had fallen on the servants as well.
Taehyung danced with Hoseok. "My love! Hoseok, we did it! We-Hoseok?" his lover had turned dead and cold in his arms. "Hoseok?" his calm, debonair voice had finally broke. "Oh, my love..."
Jimin frantically hopped across the grounds. "Jungkook! Jungkook! Have you seen my little boy? Where-"
Jimin went still with no one by his side.
