Pagkaisa, Pagkawala

Prologue

Nakatira ang pamilyang Morissey sa Shie Residences. Masayang kumakain ang pamilya sa kanilang hapag-kainan. Pinaguusapan nila kung anong gagawin nila ngayong bakasyon.

Cheyanne's POV

"Mom, Dad where will we go this summer?", tanong ni Cheyanne sa kanyang magulang sapagkat tapos na ang kanilang klase.

"Kahit saan mo gusto anak. Do you have something in mind?", her mom answered smiling while waiting for her answer.

"Uhm, let's go to Baguio nalang siguro Mom.", she answered then ate her food.

"Are you sure? Ayaw mong pumunta sa Canada to visit your grandparents there? It will be your grandmother's birthday on Saturday.", her mom said with a questioning look.

"Oh I'm sorry Mom. I forgot about that. How about you dad?", sabi niya habang hinihimas ang batok niya dahil nakalimutan niya ang birthday ng Mamu Shiela niya.

"Yes baby. But if gusto mo pumunta sa Baguio, then let's go to Baguio. I'll tell them na we won't be there for her birthday", her dad answered while looking at her.

"No dad! We're going. Sa ibang araw nalang tayo pumunta sa Baguio. Maybe when we get home from there, pwede tayong pumunta doon", she answered back with a sincere smile.

"That's a nice idea. Okay finish your food na dahil aalis tayo today", her dad commanded while smiling.

"Huh? You didn't tell me that we will go somewhere today Dad.", she answered back with a puzzled look imprint on her face.

"You'll know later baby. Go upstairs na and prepare", her mom and dad replied.

"Okay Mom, Dad. I'll go upstairs na", she said then went upstairs to her room to prepare.

She wore a dress and a doll shoes and got her favorite bag from her table. She didn't put any make-up because she's not the type of kikay girl.

The moment she went downstairs, siya nalang ang hinihintay ng pamilya niya.
Sumakay na siya sa backseat kasi Dad niya yung nagdridrive at katabi niya yung Mom niya.

Hindi alam ni Cheyanne na sa isang orphanage sila pupunta ngayon. Malapit kasi ang loob ng Mommy Charlotte niya sa mga bata. Since wala naman sila ginagawa today, pupunta sila doon. Siguro maghahanap ng bata na pwedeng i-adopt pero hindi muna ito sinabi ng magulang dahil baka mabigla ang bata.

"Anak, andito na tayo", her mom said.

"Little Children's Orphanage. What are we doing here mom?", she read the sign then waited for a reply.

"We're gonna donate anak. They need support para mapakain at mapasaya ang mga batang nandiyan", sabi ng mom niya with a tone of excitement in her voice.

"Okay Mom. Excited akong makita sila. Alam niyo naman na wala akong kapatid", she exclaimed feeling excited about that thought.

"Do you want us to adopt a child, anak?", his dad asked out of the blue. Cheyanne was shocked for a moment then replied.

"It's up to you Dad. Gusto ko po ng kapatid. Pero maybe not now. Give me time po to adjust if ever you'll adopt another child", sabi niya habang nagdadalawang-isip kung sigurado na siya na magkaroon ng kapatid.

"Hindi pa naman anak. We'll wait when you're ready", her parents said in chorus while she's left thinking about it.

At doon natapos ang usapan nila sa sasakyan. Nang dumating na sila sa may entrance, sabay-sabay silang bumaba at binati ni Sister Anna na head ng Little Children's Orphanage.
