Brooklyn

The sound of the wind was everything that someone could heard on that street. Besides one or another street lamp, every corner of that place was just darkness. Some old newspapers flying as the leaves, the smell of a hot night and a cat trying to find something to eat on a garbage. No one could live there, on that conditions, all the buildings were empty, broken windows, graffitis everywhere, mostly about the Avengers, and a smashing old yellow car in the middle of the road.

"Selvages" Loki thought, standing in a dark corner when a light started flashing on a window of an old red building.

Heimdall sent him to America again, even if that was against Loki's wishes. He was there two days before on the Avengers tower and Tony was really specific when he said he didn't know where Thor was so why sending him again to talk with another hero? But there he was, because he needed it and he could never tell his father Odin that he was having problems to find his brother.

"What I do for you..." Loki began saying, thinking he was alone.

"Thanks but I don't need anything." said the blonde man dressed as someone out of his time "Loki."

"Steve Rogers, such a pleasure to be in the same place as Captain America. Big fan."

"I don't need your jokes Loki, tell me, you're looking for your brother?" Steve started walking to his house. He never invited Loki but he followed him as an old friend, someone that didn't need an invitation. Steve nothing said.

"I see that Tony already told you about our meeting." he smirked and a glow passed in his gaze. Steve knew he could not trust in him but he could be at least polite, after all, Stark didn't have any problem two days ago.

Steve lived on the 4th floor of an empty building. The place was nice, just personal things, simple furniture and boxing stuff everywhere. The walls were in brick, big windows and it looked modern, different from the outside.

The hero grabbed a cup of coffee and looked to Loki who shook his head.

"I have tea."

"I don't drink tea."

"What do you drink? A special drink from Asgard?"

The god rolled his eyes and grabbed a picture that was next to a big screen. He was admiring the girl. Short brown hair, big happy eyes and red lips, dressed with a royal blue suit.

"Your mother?" joked looking to Steve.

"Put the picture where it was, Loki. None of your business." he sat down on the chair, far away from the other man. "So, your brother? I saw him three days ago, Friday morning. I woke up to do some exercise and he was reading something, a note maybe. I asked him what it was but he said that it was personal and he walked away. I even yelled to know if he would go to Stark's party but he didn't answer. I don't know where your brother is now. Problems at home?"

"Another human thinking I need help? That funny." he started pacing around "Let's just say I need him before my father founds out I can't find him."

"Okay."

Something was wrong, Steve could feel it in his bones. Why Loki needed Thor? He was certainly desperate because it was already the second time in Midgard and Steve remember the exact moment that the god of thunder told him how Loki hated Earth.

They both knew they would talk about the problem so he picked up another cup of coffee and gave it to Loki. He accepted.

"I only can guess the problem is worse than I can think. You're here, not trying to kill me and accepting my coffee? Who could have guessed that the god of mischief could be so polite?" he laughed making Loki feel some anger inside of him but didn't say a word.

"Don't you dare to think that you're not on my death list, God's righteous man. But believe me, I have bigger problems. Odin don't want Thor here, surrounded with humans and honestly I can see why, still don't understand how can he call you friend, more like a servant but anyways, he loves it. He prefers be an Avenger than a king. I should be the king! I would be so much better than him! All the power in me but no, all the power on that arrogant. I told my father he was in Asgard, somewhere but not here and my father said "So, I need to see him, go call your brother and if he is not here I send you to Earth for a whole year." so now you see why I need to find him?"

" Yes. I mean, without Thor in Asgard you could be the king..."

"That will never happen, Odin would find another reason to not make me the ruler."

"... and if you don't find your brother you will be a prisoner here. People here say something like 'it's a win win' but for you it's a loss loss"

Loki was next to the window looking to the sky full of stars. Steve was right, it was always a win win for him but not this time. He would never be the king and he could never spend a year there. He needed Thor.

"My brother?"

"I don't know where he is. But if I see him I will tell him."

And for the first time Steve could swear he saw almost a honest smile on Loki's lips.

"Heimdall, take me home." and just like that the god disappeared.
