(Time Skip)
It was starting to pour--damn it. Carrying my suitcase is slowing me down. Searching for my Dad isn't easy. The first two bars I went were too clean, he wouldn't go in there-- even if they served free drinks. He likes the local, at home town feel.
(Y/n)- "Jimmy's Bar" I say aloud to myself. He's gotta be in there, it feel like he'd be right at home. As I approached the front door, the only two stickers placed on the wood were "No pets allowed" and a sticker for no androids either. I tilt my head to the side and sighed. Alright then. I placed my hand on the door and pushed in. As soon as I entered in, eyes turn and stared at me...a feeling I hate the most. Nothing to see here, just a girl out to look for her father... and maybe a drink. As my eyes look at every single person in the bar, none of them looked familiar. Hmph, is he not in this one either? A man at the middle section of the bar counter, had his head down and a half filled glass cup in his right hand. I think-- I think I found him? If thats him-- he sure let his hair grow long. All grey. Alright, this is it. One foot after the other, I stood right behind him.
(Y/n)- " Dad?" His back tensed. He straighted his back and turned his head around. His droopy eyelids opened up seeing a first glance at me. His mouth opened but nothing came out, he's surprised to see me as well. I set down my suitcase and waited for him to say something.
(Y/n)- " Hey, Dad" I repeated myself, why isn't he saying something?
(Dad)- " What are you doing here?" his breath reeked of alcohol.
(Y/n)- "I-- I-I- Came to see you? Why else?"
(Dad)- " No phone calls, no post cards, no visits-- what? Did your boyfriend leave you? Do you need money? " he turns around back to face the bar taking his glass drink to his lips. I furrow my brows. I take in a deep breath in and exhaled slowly. I sat on the stool on his right.
(Y/n)- " I know I haven't returned your calls, or mailed you." I start off with.
(Dad)- " So....which is it, boyfriend or money?" He's being so-- whats the word? Annoying? Immature? unreasonable?
(Y/n)- " Neither, Dad. I came to see you." I say to get straight to the point.
(Dad)- " Is that so? Now that you have, you can go."
(Y/n)- " Don't do this. Don't drive me away."
(Dad)- "Drive you away? You clearly don't remember, I remember you leaving Detroit once you turned twenty-one."
(Y/n)- " You gave me no choice,Dad. The way you were acting out-- lead me no choice but to pack up and leave. Seeing you the way you are right now...I see nothings changed" his eyes looked at me, his eyebrows furrow but come undone. He sighs very deeply and sniffed his nose. He takes another sip from his glass and stays silent.
It remained silent for five mintues now. This is just unbearable, I don't like this. The silence is killing me. This is not what played in my head a while ago. I thought it was going to be hugs and cries--total oppoiste of this.
(Y/n)- " Thanks for the birthday message." I uttered to break the silence.
(Dad)- " How old are you now?"
(Y/n)- "Twenty- two" a slow smile formed in the corner of my mouth.
(Dad)- " I knew that" I chuckled under my breath.
(Dad)- " So no boyfriend, huh? What--what happened to that Grant kid?" he asked, almost struggling to figure out his name.
(Y/n)- "He cheated on me." I shrug my shoulders.
(Dad)- "Hmmph, never liked that guy"
(Y/n)- " You never liked anyone I dated."
(Dad)- " Cause there's never been a decent one I actually liked."
(Y/n)- "Maybe the next one you will" Hearing the door open, the sound of distant rainfall before the door closed shut. My eyes looked up to see the android I saw back at the station. It was drenched in rain water but it doesn't seem to care. It spotted me right away-- or spotted my Dad. Eyeing us each step it took-- what does this thing want? He stood right behind us.
(Android)- " Lieutenant Anderson, my name is Connor. I'm the android sent by CyberLife." his head was tilted as he spoke. Connor? That's the name they chose? Could have been a Ryan, Oliver or Adam.
(Connor)- " I looked for you at the station but nobody knew where you were. They said you were probably having a drink nearby. I was lucky to find you at the fifth bar." his face was plain, non expressionless-- like all androids. Surprisingly, I found him sooner than the android, I guess I'm a better tracker than he is. The android turned his head towards me, but then turns back to view my Dad.
(Hank)- " What do you want?" he spoke in an annoyed deep tone.
(Connor)- " You were assigned a case early this evening. A homicide--"
(Y/n)- "A homicide, the deliberate and unlawful killing of one person by another..basically murder." I say defining the definition. Dad taught me almost everything there is to know about police stuff.
(Connor)- " Correct" he eyes be then back to Dad. You're not the only one who knows stuff.
(Connor)- " A homicide involving a CyberLife android. In accordance with procedure, the company has allocated a specialized model to assist investigators"
(Hank)- " Well, I don't need any assistance. Specially not from a plastic asshole like you. So just be a good lil' robot and get the fuck outta here." he waves his hand for him to walk on out. Connor just stood there, not making an inch to head out.
(Connor)- " I understand that some people are not comfortable in the presence of androids but I am--"
(Hank)- " I am perfectly comfortable....now back off, before I crush you like an empty beer can!"
(Connor)- " Listen, I think you should stop drinking and come with me" I scoff with a chuckle. Connor looks at me.
(Y/n)- " Good luck with that."
(Connor)- " It'll make it easier for the both of us" he continues. Dad nods his head and gulps down the every last drop of his drink.
(Connor)- " You know what? I'll buy you one for the road. What do you say?" I look to Connor then to Dad. He eyes his empty drink, contemplating to take Connor's offer.
(Connor)- "Bartender, the same again, please!" the bartender turns around viewing the android. Connor places down a couple of bills to pay for the drink.
(Hank)- "See that, Jim? Wonders of technology...Make it a double." Jim the bartender grabs a tall bottle of liquor and pours Dads glass full. He chugs it down with a hiss once he swallowed. He sighs and turns to face Connor.
(Hank)- " Did you say homicide?"
(Connor)- " Yes."
(Hank)- " Let's go, before I change my mind" Dad gets up and heads towards the front of the bar. Connor follows closely behind him. I quickly grab my suitcase and follow the strange pair. Once outside, feeling the rain hitting my face-- it felt calming for once. The three of make it to Dads old car, I remember this thing. Dad gets into the driver side and Connor enrolls himself in the passenger side. Damn it, Connor. I was going to take that side. I enter inside the backseat, it was dead silent. Dad looks at the rear view mirror and sees me in the back.
(Hank)- " Wha-- no, uh uh-- you're not coming with. "
(Y/n)- " I don't have keys to the house."
(Hank)- " Motel?"
(Y/n)- " Hmm, not enough cash." That was a lie, I have money...just not going to spend it when I can just crash at Dads for a few days.
(Hank)- " I'll drop you off--"
(Y/n)- " Dad, murder--waiting, drive." I ordered. He sighs and just starts the engine.
