Two Is Better Than One
Clara pulls down her tank top and glances skittishly around. It's mid-day, the time, when she usually goes for a run....in her wolf form. It's the only time she can. Most of the pack wolves tend to shift and run during the night, including the Alpha family, which is exactly why Clara chooses to run during mid-day. The time, when she's less likely to run into any other wolves.
Since the age of 16, when Clara made eye-contactwith Alpha Nixon's pesky twins, she felt that instant connection-thedreaded soul-mate bond. Since then for 2 years, she'd been avoiding them as best as she can, sticking to the shadows, trying to gounnoticed, not gain their attention, not let them realise it's her. That she's their mate.
Clara knows that if her friends or peers found out that she'd be deemed insane. Not just because...well, one glance at them and any straight female would beproclaiming her blind, to put it mildly. But also because they are the future Alpha's of the pack, and in all fairness, they aredecent guys. It's just Clara can't deal with thatright now. All she wants is to get into a University, gain her independence andlive a normal life- a normal human life. One that doesn'thave all this bullshít pack hierarchy and pack society. It may be right for hermom and dad and a lot of girls in the pack, who's only ambition, are to mate astrong guy in a pack and produce healthy little werewolf babies.
It sickens Clara to know that all these people are brainwashed into that. Evenher own mother wants her to just stay and have a family!
No way. Clara refuses to do that. No matter how many times her mom screams ather, cries or pleads her, she just can't.Snap!
Her attention switches back to her surroundings as she nervously glances aroundthe edges of the circular clearing to spot signs of anyone. Finding nothing, she breathes out a sigh and guesses it to be just some skittish animal.Checking her phone, Clara realises with annoyance that she only has 10 minutesto get back to school, which means she'll have to start running now, if there's anychance of her being even remotely on timefor afternoon lessons.
"Fúck," she softly curses, forcing her feet into her tatty trainers and bending down to tiethe laces.
Clara's lost in her ownactions that she doesn't hear the soft scrunching of the ground underneath twopairs of feet.
"How long did youthink we'd let this go on, Sweetheart?" rumbles a low serious toned voice.
Clara snaps upright and gasps in shock. Her eyes widen and she hesitantly startsto take a step back.
"No point runningnow, darling," smiles Alex. The two look so similar, it's almost impossible to tell them apart, unlessyou've known themfor so long-or of course, you're their mate. Both have the same dark chocolate brown hair, straightand cut to a decent shortish length. They even share similar features liketheir perfect, pointed noses, full lips and square set jaws. They're heights and bulks are also closely matched, even theireyes are a stormy silver, grey colour. However that's where Clara seems to be able to make adistinction between them (God knows how though). For some reason, she knowsthat Alex's eyes are a fraction lighter thanAaron's and she alsosomehow, can see that Alex always has a playfulness glinting in his eyeswhether as Aaron'shave more of 'hard-áss'sheen to them.
"Alphas? What-What's wrong?" she asks, hoping that playing thestupid, confused, naive little girl willget her off the hook. But they see right through her act and Alex smirks inresponse.
"Why don't come a little closer and we'll tell you allabout it?" offers Alex, as his brother and him take a purposeful step towardsher.
Shít. Clara knows when to run and she knows it's high time she starts.
So spinning around, she allows the adrenaline to push her legs into action.
Her mates having figured she'd flee, just grin at eachother before chasing down her mate.
