The three of them took off into the woods. They did not own a car so driving was out of the question.
"Hurry up, we wanna make it there before daybreak!" The sun still hasn't shown out from the fog, but it would be up soon and they were still clueless where they were even going to find such a plane Abigail was in the back keeping Rosey at a rapid pace.
"Liam wait!" Liam stopped abruptly and turned back. Abigail pointed towards a small Taildragger plane that was lightly draped in moss and sticks, hiding its rusty colour.
"Is that the plane?" Liam started to walk towards it and brushed the side. He pulled out the tickets and inspected it.
"It has the same name, Red Eclipse."
"That doesn't make sense, it's a wreak."
"Hey there, say it to my face and not my plane would you," Abigail whipped around and saw a dirty, scrawny kid with goggles balanced on top of their head. "This beauty has been flying through all sorts of weather, so I dare you to say any shame to her."
"Who are you?" Rosey asked the kid.
"Alex, Alex Lapam." Alex leaned towards the plane and brushed off all the accent vines.
"Abigail by the way, and I am genuinely sorry, but we are going to be flying in that?"
"Well not if you do not have a ticket of course. I have a life to pay for." Liam took all three of their tickets and handed them over. Alex examined each one of them and stopped letting out a sad sigh.
"Hop on in."
Liam went in first, then Rosey and lastly Abigail bringing up the rear.
The plane was tight and each of the seats were lathered in a heavy layer dust. Liam took one in the far back on the side closest to the window. Abigail buckled Rosey in a seat right behind the pilot doors easy for here to keep an eye on from anywhere inside.
"Hey Red, come up here I need a co-pilot." Abigail walked through the aisle and sat next to Alex, "Hold on kids." The plane was in gear and starting rolling through the woods. Alex started flicking switches and turning the plane out of the way from trees.
"Have you ever flown this plane before?" Abigail asked holding on to either side of her.
"Well of course I have. The Glades do not give permission to just anybody." Liam let out a hesitant breath and rolled his eyes.
"Do planes usually sound like this?" Rosey asked bouncing in her seat. Another tree fell to the side as they rolled of the roots.
"She has been through a lot, just give her time." Unsteadily, the clouds started to descend underneath them and they all started to fall into an order. Abigail looked out her rounded square window and watched the clouds disappear from beneath her.
"It's beautiful." Alex chuckled.
"It's mesmerizing. You would be surprised how it doesn't get old when you have seen it so many times." The stars were starting to fall out of the sky one by one, each making room in the sky. Alex's glowing bronze skin reflected the rising sun perfectly.
"Um, excuse me," Rosey spoke up, "Do you happen to have any snacks? I heard planes usually have them." Abigail darted her eyes behind her and stared Rosey down. Alex chuckled.
"Ha sorry to disappoint you sunshine but no."
"Oh alright then Mr. Lapam, Miss Lapam?"
"Just Alex," Alex turned their head to Abigail. "She always like this?" Abigail snorted.
