"Liam!" Seamus caught him and lowered him slowly.
"What was that?" Abigail cried. She spun around looking for some sort of clue. A dark laugh echoed around them before melting to nothing.
"That," Seamus glared into an empty void gritting his teeth. "I am going to kill him I swear to you." He flicked open one of the pockets on his belt and pulled out a needle and string.
"Alex-"
"Here," they handed him a scalpel. Seamus looked down at himself and sighed. He unbuttoned his reflective maroon vest. A small key hole was stamped where his heart should be. Seamus took a key from his pocket and fidgeted with it until his chest opened wide. Instead of the expected blood and organs flooding out, there were gears connected to each each other by wires and metal pipes. On the far right was a red beating organ held into place. It was not as large as Abigail would have thought. Instead of the heart being the size of an average fist, it was in an abnormal shape held together by black string.
"You are a machine?" Seamus wiped his gloves people retrieving his own heart.
"Close enough."
"Why would you have a heart then if you are just a bunch of mixed up engines?"
"I am human, these," he pulled out his scalpel and started applying pressure to the heart, "scraps of metal, are just replacements." Seamus let out a painful groan. He took the piece he shaved off and put the rest back in its small silver cage.
"Alex-"
"I know," they knelt down and lifted Liam onto a copper sheet of metal on the table. Swiftly, Seamus lifted his scalpel and this time cut into Liam. Liam was lying there in his own pool of blood when Seamus snarled.
"What happened? What is wrong with my brother?" Abigail yelled
"That monster targets people and as you can see, he targeted your brother." Seamus pointed at a dark black bruise on Liam's heart.
"What is that?" Rosey pointed. She was wrapped around Alex gripping her hands into their neck.
"If we do not take it out, that monster is going to stay in his head that is all that is important." In three fluent strike the black piece was exalted. However Liam's mouth started coughing up blood and his knuckles were turning white.
"Liam!" Rosey shrieked. Alex shielded the child's eyes. Seamus pulled out his piece of his heart be removed and swiftly thread the string through the eye of the needle. He rapidly sewed the heart into place and watched it continue to beat. Liam's breathes slowed down and he released his hands from the side of the table.
"He should be stable for awhile now but he still need reinforcements."
Nearly an hour went by when Seamus announced his surgery complete. Liam's heart was resting in a similar contraption like the one Seamus had inside him.
"His heart is still functioning like anyone else's and and attached to all other veins. The heart chamber just keeps the strings from snapping and keeping him from having another seizure." Liam's eyes started to part open and he let out a painful groan.
"What-What is wrong?" Seamus stood over him and smirked.
"Nothing anymore, everything is going to be fine." Liam looked up and started leaning in when he caught a glimpse of Abigail.
"Abbie, oh hey."
"Ha, your an idiot."
"Rosey!" Rosey lept down and ran into her brother's arms.
