What started out as just a two-man duel
ended up in the following melee
that Jim Bowie and Norris Wright did fuel
This after both duelists missed, you see
Even so, spectators had taken sides
over election, family, and banking feuds
which could not be resolved just with chides
since onlookers had weapons and bad moods
Twelve men took part in the resulting fight
Six were wounded and six ended up dead
Jim Bowie was stabbed with sword cane by Wright
Then Bowie stabbed Wright with his big knife dead
So from this fight a large knife came to fame
and Bowie did become part of it's name
