A/N: Hopefully more upbeat from my first entry to this fun-fest, I hope.

It was around 3a.m., that ungodly hour for any normal person to be awake. Yet, if you were to walk past their residence, you could see a single light peering out from the home. A small home, but quaint nonetheless. In what an outsider could assume to be a living room came the single light.

Inside the home, a raven haired man sat in a chair, angled off to the side of the couch, eyebrows furrowed as he scrutinized the paper in his hand. It was a compiled list of bills due and planned out payments for various things, Nate knew how much his boyfriend hated to not have things planned out. He sighed heavily after doing the math to find they'd have about $170 to spare for the month, running a hand through his hair as he processed what it meant.

Nathan had been planning for months for a trip to take Matthew on for his birthday, take a trip from their home in California out to Florida, his home state. Yet, with the emergency vet bill for skip the previous month, they'd had to crunch to get things paid on time. Now he's come up short, a week to the date. Nate crumpled the sheet, chucking it across the room, leaning back in the chair and groaning.

The raven rubbed his eyes, beginning the finally feel the heaviness of sleep. Yet, he knew he wouldn't sleep, knew he couldn't. He growled at himself slightly, blaming himself for the issues at hand. He was so entranced in self deprecation he didn't hear the footsteps coming from the hall.

"Nate...why are you up?" Matthew asked from the hall, sleepiness obvious from the way he leaned against the wall, eyes half lidded.

The man in question glanced up at his lover wondering if to be honest or not, "it's nothing, just head back to bed. I'll be in soon." Matt shook his head at this, heading over to Nathan.

"If it was nothing you wouldn't be up so late..or early. Doesn't matter. Point is, I want to know whats wrong, so please, tell me," he made his point further-so by sitting on his lovers knees, the height difference coming in handy as to not tower over Nate.

"I...err, okay I give," he quickly surrendered to the puppy-like eyes watching him, "I wanted to...make your birthday next week special. I wanted us to go on a trip, down to Florida, but there isn't the funds. I would've bought the tickets sooner but I was afraid an emergency would come up. I was right about that, with the emergency vet visit but now I can't....Matthew i'm sor-," finally during his tangent, Nathan was stopped before giving his apology.

Matt had taken the opportunity to close the space between them, kissing him silent before he could give an unneeded apology. Nathan kissed him back not quite aggressively, but as if trying to convey his guilt through the means presented to him. When they broke, Matthew spoke first before he had the chance.

"Nathan, answer me with one word, is this why you're up so late?"

"...yes."

The brunette sighed, giving him another brief kiss, "Nate, I don't need something special. Everyday has been special since you've been by my side. That...was very cheesy to say. But I mean it."

"I should be able to give you what you deserve though!" The raven whined, still not convinced, "it should be the best day of your year. At least one of them, and it was going to be."

"Nate."

"...hm?"

The brunette grabbed him into a large hug, grinning.

"As long with i'm with you, every day is the best day."
