Alone in the world

Chapter 3

I couldn't stay focused. What she said kept coming back to me over and over, I didn't want to believe that I was the one that would save us all from suffering there had to be someone else that could do it. Someone stronger, smarter and more courageous then me.

 I gave up planning for the party and went to home. Once I got home I fed mirabel my dragon and called one of my coworkers to ask if they could take over the garden party as I didn't have the motivation or energy to do it. I got ready to go to bed, by now it was late from  persuading my co worker to do the party and get mirabel food I decided to go to bed.tossed and turned in my bed trying to get the memory of the fortune teller out of my head but I couldn't  it kept coming back. Eventually I could fall asleep till morning .

I woke up early like I normally do yet I was so tired in the end I got a dripping flower tea to keep me awake for the day, I got dressed and did my hair in a long braid with bow to tie it, and I was ready to go out in the world. When left my house to go to work, I noticed mirabel wasn't in her field area, I would normally feed her now but I guess she's gone out to fly around. I assumed she would go find her own food so I continued walking to the dressmaker shop. the streets were deserted not even the 24h tea cafe across from my house was open. Nobody was anywhere. I just kept walking assuming some big event was happening but no. I walked up to my dressmaker shop to find guards standing outside with people walking around to find something that was clearly not there. While I was trying to fully process what was happening, I heard a growl from behind me. There were guards strangling mirabel till she would stop moving, they were pushing her into a metal cage. I tried to help her but it was too late they had taken the only creature that was there for me when no one else was through the thick and thin, knew what I did every day.

I tried to get my dragon back but it was no use. They have taken the only creature that was different from any other creature. The only reason they would take mirabel was to stop me from flying over the border as mirabel has the biggest lung capacity to survive the atmosphere to get over the border. all the other dragons that were around are bred to have small lung capacity's and fainted when they got to high in the sky.

I ran the only place that I knew I could find safety.
