I stood there with no plan on what to do next. This couldn't be what people thought was true. We were told lies everyday. About who we are, who was in charge and where we were. It all had made sense, why 'emergency meetings' were called and it would be a false alarm. We would get back with someone in panic looking for there pet dragon. No one would know what happened and would still continue there day like nothing was threatening there life in anyway. I tried to help but people would pull me back into my dress store to get back to work. I couldn't lose my job. Once you lost your job there was nothing left to do. You couldn't get your job back even if you tried. It was like a family business once you leave you leave no returning we'll that's what I thought.

When I came back to reality, I ran back home to pack my things that had meaning to me into a backpack. The items include a few books from the old world, food sachets for a week, water supplements, a lock pick to break mirabel out of her cage. I had two more things to do before I left, leave a note for my friend group so they don't conduct a city wide search looking for me when I'm not close to the city. All I wrote was I'm going away and I'll be back eventually. If I said more I would be found and captured for no reason.

I also had to break mirabel out of her cage. While working at a dragon training institute I knew. Where they put all the captured dragons so they can be trained into flightless dragons. This training would be also done to young dragons and they will never know what's on the other side. It was cruel how people would train them into horse like creatures. They couldn't even walk with people riding them. If we didn't train them or we fought back we would be fired or arrested. We were to scared to test the limits and see how far I could go.

The place was just out of the city near the dragon institute obviously. With the lock pick I could get into the 'dragon prison' and found Mirabel at the end of the corridor. The gate was open and conveniently next To Mirabel's cage. We could easily slip out without being detected, no one would notice that she was missing. I wanted to save the other dragons but they didn't know how to live out in the world. They couldn't collect there own food or protect themselves from dangers outside. No one knows what it's like outside, all we know it's far more dangerous then here. Nobody believed it but we just accepted the truth and went on with our lives as if nothing had happened. There would be talk that someone would save us but no one knew who this person was.

I opened the gate to her cage and we flew out of the cage into the outside the prison walls and over the border

We were finally free, after all this time.
