Harry was sitting beside Lola's bed as she slept, holding onto her hand and watching her chest rise and fall with each breath. She looked better, she said she felt better, but her file said otherwise.

"Harry," the doctor said as she stepped in the room. "Why don't you come out in the hall, I need to talk to you."

"Is something wrong?" He asked, closing the door behind him.

"I know you've been looking at Lola's charts," she started and Harry became nervous. "She's not doing well, Harry."

"But she'll be okay, right? Can't you up her meds or something?" He said quickly.

"Medicine isn't going to help. You already know that. But there is something that might help. A surgery."

"Then do it. What are you waiting for?"

"Harry, it's risky. It's very risky."

"But it'll make her better."

"It's not that simple. I'll come back when Lola wakes up and the three of us will talk about it. Okay?" She offered with her hand on Harry's shoulder.

He nodded, "Yeah. Okay."

An hour and a half later, Lola woke up complaining of a headache.

"The doctor will be in soon," Harry said. "She said there might be something we can do to help you remember."

"Why haven't they done it yet, then?"

"Harry's told you about the procedure, I take it," Dr. Mills said as she walked into the room.

Lola looked to Harry and back to the doctor, "Just mentioned it, actually. He said it can help me remember?"

The doctor nodded and continued to explain the surgery to an eager Harry and Lola. And despite the risks and the 50% success rate, Lola wanted to do it.

"I don't want to forget anymore," she said. "How soon can we do it?"

A week passed slowly, Lola only forgetting more and more things. Harry tried to remind her the basics everyday she didn't remember: why she was in the hospital, why she was in a different country, and why she didn't need her fix. She hadn't forgotten him, but the longer they waited for the surgery the more anxious Harry became everytime Lola woke up.
