Earth colonists land on Venus and found the "Clarke's Basin" terra-forming settlement

Terraforming efforts begin

Foundation of Furukanai (city)

Foundation of Pordsir (city)-these become important much later on

After hundreds of years Venus becomes habitable

Colonies of Venus attempt to gain independence from Earth

Earth reluctantly grants Venus independence

Anti-Secessionist party sabotages climate control equipment

Venus ecosystem begins to spiral out of control due to a combination of overpopulation as well as malfunctioning climate control systems

At roughly the same time political tensions on Earth escalate and end in a nuclear war which wipes out most of (if not all) life on the planet . An experimental Russian moon colony survives.-Once again this becomes important later on

Nearly all biomass on Venus is consumed or destroyed. 99% of life goes extinct. Small groups of humanity survive in underground hab units. This event is known as "The Great Die Off"

Thousands of years pass before the descendants of survivors return to the surface of Venus and find it covered in a vast desert

In those years most knowledge of pre-die off culture and society has been archived and forgotten by descendants.

Surprisingly life on Venus has bounced back in full force. Years of evolution have led to organisms far different than those originally brought from earth. A new sentient race has begun to rise up calling themselves the "Vinea Machina"

The Vinea Machina are odd creatures consisting of both technology and organic material they exist in nomadic tribes and are a generally peaceful race, in their culture they refer to the planet as "Uley Matri" or "Mother's Hive"

Over the next few decades humans enslave the Vinea Machina, Repopulate their long abandoned cities, and more or less re-establish civilization.
