3 days had passed. 3 days in which I stayed in the facility. Learning everything I could about the Houses. Everything about Jackson Gregory Pierce.
The "son" of Ethan Gregory Pierce was a far stretch because it was a fact that vampires could not conceive.
There was a stage between a human turning into a vampire. Turning into a vampire was a huge and delicate process. If not done correctly could cause several problems, which is why only Master vampires could make the transition.
It all had to do with genetics and the proper timing. A human could be turned at any age, but because of puberty, those turned under the age of 20 could still grow. Could still mature like a normal human. Until a specific time of course.
Unlike folktales and other stories, vampires did grow old. After the specific age was met, the growing process for vampires slowed down considerably. The average life span of a vampire being 350 years old. That meant most vampires looked 20 for more than half their lifespan.
But the transition from a human to a vampire meant they could not conceive anymore, no matter the age. The process was a frail one, only Master vampires and those trustful to the knowledge knew how to turn a human.
But because Salvatore had some influence on the government and was a very important figure in the society, he had managed to get The Codex. A book, much like the bible, which had everything a vampire needed to know.
There were several different copies of The Codex. Ones that showed the laws and regulations, ones that showed how to properly behave as a vampire, and the most important one, the ones only Masters were allowed to see: How to turn into a Night Creature.
No one human was allowed to remotely see it, for obvious reasons, but I had done my research.
Most of everything on the Web consisted of various ways to turn into a vampire. Drink blood, get staked in the heart with a wooden stake, or eat garlic for one year.
All of which were stupid and ill-advised suggestions. But with more research, I had managed to narrow down some sites to form a basic story.
Humans had to have the help of a vampire: A Master vampire at that, since they were the only ones allowed to turn humans. The human had to be almost drained of blood. The key word being almost. A delicate process, if not done correctly could cause the death of the person.
The second part, the vampire had to offer up their own blood. The person must drink vampire blood until only that flowed into his blood stream. Again, a delicate process because draining a vampire could also stop his/her life.
And last was the blood lust. Where the human had an intense craving for human blood, they're main resource for survival.
You see, that was the part which got me curious. When vampires were turned, the Master took them under their wing as a member of their House. Jackson was a vampire that was considered as a son to Ethan, Master of the Evelyn House.
That must mean he was either a very important figure, or Ethan just decided to adopt a vampire as his son.
With hours of research and late nights in the library, I found out what I could given the limited resources. Jack looked to be my age surprisingly, which meant he was probably recently turned, maybe about 3/4 years back.
He had blond hair and delicate features. Although I wouldn't mistake him and treat him like a child. His well defined body and muscular arms told a different story.
Although I was still curious as to why Salvatore would want this kind of information. It wasn't like Jackson was anything great. And he didn't have any political influence.
