LETTER 2

439 18 0

The same night, Robert was tossing in his bed, unable to sleep. The thoughts of the letter were keeping him awake. He sat up on the bed and turned on the light. The package with the other letters was on the bed next to him. He looked at it.

He was hesitating whether or not to continue reading. Looking at the second letter, which was now at the top of the pile of letters, with shaking hands, he slowly opened it and began to read.

25.12.2007

Dear Robert,

Today is Christmas - my favourite day of the year. Why? Because the whole family is together. Me, my parents, my brothers, my paternal grandparents. I don't know anything about my maternal grandparents. Mom has never talked about them. So... never mind.

My brothers were all excited about Christmas. Even Cameron - the oldest, who was supposed to be the most mature. Instead of giving us a good example, he cheered around like a little kid. I felt isolated. I wish you were here. I'm sure you would have enjoyed yourself and feel at home.

I can't wait to see you on the set and to hear how you've been doing!

Now I have to go. It's time for lunch and then I am going to play the guitar for my family.

Yours truly,

Kristen

The letter had left him speechless. It didn't touch his heart or soul. He could not imagine being that close to Kristen to spend Christmas of 2007 with her. Catherine Hardwicke had made sure they were not too close until Kristen was a legal adult. It was against the law.

Like Kristen, many times Robert had wished they were the same age. He believed things would have been different between them.
