(The picture at the top is Pier.)

I woke with a start. I sat up and looked around for a second.

'Where the hell am I? Wait... Why am I AWAKE!?!?' This wasn't right. 'I am supposed to be dead!' I looked at the cavern interior of the place I was in. I didn't know how I got here or why I was awake when, last I checked, I had died on my mother's grave.

"Finally, my dear Viridian. You have finally awakened." A male voice rang rhoughout the cavern, and it wasn't until he stepped in with a glass of some dark red liquid that I relaized how thirsty I was.

'Holy shit. My throat feels like it's on fire.' I rubbed my neck. That didn't help, but better to try.

"I know, I know. You're thirsty. Here, little one." The man handed me the glass and I looked at it skeptically. "Don't worry. If I brought you back, do you really think I'd make you leave again?"

'Brought me... Oh God! Did he bring me back from the dead!?!?' My heart thundered and I stared at the man.

"Drink, and then I'll speak and answer all the questions I'm sure are forming in that mind of yours, young one." The man sat down in a chair that I hadn't noticed was by the bed. There was also a nightstand on the other side.

I looked at the liquid in the glass one more time. 'Fuck it.' I tilted my head back and drank the liquid down as fast as I could.

"There. Better?" The man tilted his head at me. He had black hair and the most amazing deep grey eyes I'd ever seen.

"Yep. Now who the hell are you, and where the fuck am I? And why am I not dead?" I started off with the main three questions that were burning in my mind.

"My name is Pier. You are here in my home because I had nowhere else to take you. And as to why you're not dead, well, I brought you back to life. I believe it wasn't time for your rest yet my dear." He answered.

"Don't call me 'dear.' And second, what exactly did you have to do to bring me back?" I leaned over and set the glass on the nightstand.

"I had to change you." Pier said.

"Change me? Into what?" I looked back at him.

"Into a Blood Dragon. What do you think you were drinking? Kool-Aid?" Pier chuckled and I felt my heart jump.

"You gave me blood and didn't give me any warnings! What's wrong with you!?!?" I snapped.

"Easy, young dragon. Yes, I didn't warn you about the blood. But I knew you wouldn't drink it if I told you ahead of time what was in the glass." Pier said.

"That's just creepy! Eesh! Wait, I don't have to drink blood, right?" I looked down at the dark blue comforter on my lap.

"Unfortunately, yes. About every month or so, you will need to drink blood. Some of us drink a year's worth supply of blood, some of us just drink day after day, but most go month by month." Pier answered.

"Well fuck. That's just fucking wonderful. God damnit!" I sighed and flopped over, burying my face in the pillows and blankets.

"I'll leave you be for a little while, young one." Pier stood up and walked out the door on the far side of the room as I continued to sit with my face in the blankets and pillows.

'This is fucking wonderful!'
