Elara T947 had a role to play, just like everyone else. An android maintenance worker, she and all the others in her sector were tasked with the care and handling of androids in need of repair. Like a few others, she had grown a fondness for the synthetic species that made up nearly half of the population, though she tended not to take sides when it came to the political disputes that seemed to overtake all the nations and sectors of the planet, especially the central city where she resided; she hadn't lived to see the placement of androids in society, but she was currently living in the time of uprising and controversy.

She made the most of it, though, living with her personal android, Sean, who was one of the older models she fixed up, the rest of his particular model now out of commission; despite technically owning him, she saw him more of a friend, Sean not quite grasping the social norms of the Qui Hominem, which was probably for the best, as there was talk of androids going missing and of tensions brewing between the two species. Considering the already encroaching war between Rashion and its sister planet Coymia, the last thing the people needed was a civil war breaking out in the streets.

It was because of these tensions that the Guardians of the Galaxy were called to aid the Nova Corps in relations and reconnaissance, tasked with getting the civilian perspective of the situation while the Nova Corps handled the political side. It was because of this set up that Elara found herself in the company of Mantis, a being capable of feeling emotions, shocked by her inability to feel androids who, as far as the Qui Hominem knew, could feel nothing.

As tensions escalated and war loomed over the horizon, Elara found herself tangled in a web of nuance and rebellion, emotions askew and truths muddled, desperately grasping at what she did know, trying to fix the wires of her mind and focus on the ones she loved, whatever they may be. Because no matter who or what a being was, they were all deserving of love.
