The windows were down, the music up. A song by Twenty One Pilots blasted loudly, as the three guys and one girl around me tried to sing along, but failing desperately.

Leslie was sitting beside me, and by Ashton. Sadly, she was coming. I had no idea why, but something about her always put me off. She just seemed like a mega bitch. And oddly, Ashton seemed really nice, so I couldn't help but wonder how they were together.

It was actually really akward, because I didn't know these guys very much. They were probably just trying to be nice by asking if I needed a ride.

I try to look as if I knew who Twenty One Pilots were, and nod along. I only knew they were playing because the radio announced the band.

"So Macey..." Calum peeks at me in the mirror interested. "How do you like school so far?"

I widen my eyes, trying to come up with a decent answer. The classes were cool. The people alright. But no matter what, the only part I really liked about it was Michael. I couldn't say that though.

"Its great!" I shoot him a thumbs up, smiling. "The food is good." I had no idea what else to say, but only then did it occur there were better things to say. Typical me.

Laughter.

"Yeah, that's about it!" Leslie chuckles, shaking her head.

I nod, but inside I couldn't help think about tonight. I was dreading this whole thing. Why was I coming? Michael wasn't there. There was no point.

You never go out by yourself anymore. I tell myself. Try and have fun.

After a frigid car ride, we arrive to where the bonfire was taking place, kids I recognized from school milling around, passing beers from person to person, smoke visible in the firelight.

I followed my group to a large log, where I sit silently as everyone else socializes happily. How come I was always the odd one out?

Country music played from some speakers connected to a random guys phone, until some girls came over, and started talking. I watched as one of the girls unhooks the speakers, and hooks them to hers, and a One Direction song starts playing. I can't help but laugh at how excited the girls look.

I find myself zoning out, staring into the fire silently, until somebody taps my shoulder.

"What?" I ask irittedly, my eyes fixing on the figure next to me.

"Do you want to get a drink with me?" I look to see Ashton. "Leslie is nowhere to be seen, and nobody else will come..." He looks slightly lost, but smiles at me anyways.

"Uh," What was I supposed to say? "Sure."

Thunder bursts in the distance, and the girls playing One Direction squeal.

I follow Ashton to where a cluster of guys, all sitting in the back of a beaten up truck, passing around beers.

Without a word, Ashton sidles up to them, and grabs two beers from the cooler at their feet, handing one to me.

"They were probably too drunk to notice." Ashton laughs, opening his, when I on the other hand had no idea what to do. I felt so innocent, I had never drank beer before. Or anything, really. "Let's go." And then do I notice I wasnt moving.

"I'm coming." I shake my head, and go back to our log.

Ashton goes back to talking with everyone else, and I go back to silently sitting, and once again I can't help but ponder why I even came.

I wriggled my toes out of my flip flops, and open the beer, reluctantly taking a taste of the vile tasting drink.

I wrinkle my nose at the taste, and set the drink next to my flip flops, vowing not to taste it again.
