Zayn
I stepped into the dark room where she was at, tied up to a chair with her head hanging, as if in prayer. Her long blond hair was scattered around her face like a shower curtain, and I could already make out blood around her wrists where the metal cuffs were at.
Fury flashed across my eyes. The cuffs were hurting her. I had to take them off of her. I had to. Anything to stop her misery. Just as I took a step forward to release her, I froze in place. She was my prisoner. She wasn't my mate, she was nothing but the enemy.
"Aluna," I said, but it came out as a question rather then my usual self.
'You're hurting our mate!' Scolded my inner wolf, Arakiel. 'Let her go!'
But I couldn't. I would never forgive myself if I did. I couldn't be that weak that I'd cave in so easily and actually accept her as my mate or even let her go for that matter.
"Aluna," I repeated when she didn't respond. Harry had told me that was her name, or what he thought was her name, but it was so different then what I was use to that I was starting to think he'd misheard what the soldier had called her.
"So you're the one that does all the shots." She finally said, but she kept her head hanging low, probably to keep from locking gazes with me. Her melodic voice was raspy, and as she finally looked up, her blue eyes met with mine and I couldn't look away. "Well?"
The trance I had been caught in broke and I regained my posture. "And what of it?" I grabbed a chair from the corner of the room and placed it in front of her and plopped down onto it.
"Why're you doing this?" Now that I was closer, I could see her eyes were bloodshot and dark circles laid beneath them.
"Why we've kidnapped you or why we've destroyed your town?" I leaned back in the seat, feigning boredom.
Her face became red with fury and I smirked, pleased with her anger. "How could you be such a fucking cold hearted bastard?!" She cried out, tears glistening in her eyes in the darkness.
Just the sight of her in tears made something inside of me sting, as if I were standing in fire. I was hurting her as much as I was hurting myself. Dammit, I really was a cold hearted bastard, because someone who really had a heart could not do this to their own mate, but I wasn't always like this.
It was her pack that had changed me so deeply, and she was gonna pay for it just like everyone in that pack was.
"You think I'm such a cold hearted guy?" I asked after I'd gotten my shit straight. "You should be weary of who you call a family then."
Fury flashed across her face and tears begun to spill from her eyes. "You took my brother away from me!" She snarled. "The only family I have is my father, and I wont let you try and make me doubt him!"
"Then believe what you want. It's not like I care what you think." I got up from the spot I was in and headed out the door without another word.
Aluna
I watched him leave through teary eyes and scowled in frustration. I needed to get out of here before they decided they wanted to dispose of me.
'He doesn't want us,' said Iris, and I hated how she could be hurt so easily by him, but to be honest, I too was hurting that he—they could do this to me so easily, that they of all people had to be my mate—mates'.
But that didn't matter. What mattered was that I had to make sure dad was okay. That he was still alive and well.
I had to be strong, otherwise they'd break me easily.
