Chapter 11: Secret's Out

(Chapter 11)

Y/N was just walking to school on his own for a change. He actually woke up a little later that usual so he was a little lat causing Miu to leave without him.

The reason for his lateness was because of what happened last night. While the fact that two people from Lost Potential somehow snuck into the school was certainly a bit spooky, but Y/N was mostly thinking about Maki. 'Did she know they would be there? Was she trying to kill them? Did she intend on killing anyone who's apart of the school?' These were the questions ringing through his mind.

"... it looked like she was trying to shoot those two... she couldn't of been aiming for someone in the audience... she was aiming it somewhere else. " Y/N thought to himself.

Y/N was so deep in thought that he actually ended up turning the wrong corner on the way to school. "Ah jeez." he muttered. Y/N turned around and started going the other way. While walking by a nearby bush, Y/N felt something trip him up making him fall to the concrete ground. "Ow! What the?"

Out of nowhere Y/N could feel someone's hand grasp his shoulder and pull him up so he was sitting against the bush. He then felt something cold and thin and sharp feeling touch his neck. He peered down ever so slightly and could see it was a knife. Y/N felt his heart stop for a second.

"Don't move. Don't yell. Just do as I say." a familiar voice whispers into his ear so close he could feel the warm breath brush against his ear. "Now I'm gonna pull you into this bush. Nod if you get me?"

Y/N slowly nodded. He then felt himself get pulled in. Once inside the bush he could see Maki pinning him to the ground with herself on top of him and her fist contains the knife pressed against the ground close to his head. "M-Maki, what're you-"

"Shut up! she whispered. "Now tell me this, what you saw last night, the stuff involving me, have you told anyone."

"I don't ge-"

"Have you told anyone."

"... No. No I haven't."

Maki looked deep into his eyes before sighing. "... ok." she simply said with her eyes closed and and exasperated expression on her face.

She continued to pin Y/N with her eyes closed. Absolute silence surrounded them until Y/N finally spoke. "Maki, what is this all about?"

Maki reopened her eyes and looked down at him with her usual unhappy expression. "... You've seen me, so I might aswell explain."

Y/N listened in. Maki got off Y/N and allowed him to sit up. Maki then attached her knife to a strap on her leg and sat on her knees comfily.

"To cut it short, I'm an assassin. Why I am I will not say."

"Assassin? But you're the ultimate child caregiver."

"That was just a cover up so that could get into the school to get a better scoop on Lost Potential. I've been hired to track down some of the higher and more important members of the group and kill them."

"Kill them? So that's why you were there last night with the gun."

Maki nodded. "It was all going fine, until you showed up."

Y/N rubbed the back of his head. "I know that the people from Lost Potential have done some really scummy things but... do you really think it's right to kill them?"

Maki looked down at the ground while fiddling with one of her long ponytails. "It's not a question of wrong or right. I've been hired to do this and I can't afford any more mistakes."

Y/N asked an itching question. "You're not planning on killing any well... any of our classmates?"

"You'll be relieved to hear that none of you or anyone apart of the school for that matter are on my hit list." Y/N sighed in relief. "But understand this. Y/N after you messed up my mission I'm in hot water. Normally I would kill someone who has found my true identity but I need as few casualties as possible. But, you must not tell anyone about my true identity and why I am here. If you tell anyone, I will have no choice but to kill you and anyone you have told." Maki threatening gaze appeared again as she looked at him intensely. "Understood?"

Y/N gulped a little. "Yes. I understand."

Maki's expression softened a little. "Good, now if you'll excuse me I'm late." Maki quickly stood up and walked away. Y/N was just sitting down on the ground, blown away slightly by what he's heard. He finally snapped out of it and stood up from the bush.

He looked over to the direction Maki was going it which was the way to school. "Y/N quickly started to follow. "Maki, Wait up let's talk about this."

Maki sighed. "This just got a whole lot harder."
