They're at it again. I don't understand why people hate on celebrity girlfriends. It's not like if I break up with Eleanor, I'll go to their house and say, "Hey, I don't have a girlfriend, wanna go out?" Not gonna happen. And if they don't stop soon, management is NOT going to like what I do.
I realized last night its time for me to ask her. I'm going to propose today. I've had it planned for a while, and I bought the ring ages ago. Why I haven't asked her is a mystery, even to me. I guess I've just been nervous.
I dragged myself out of bed and threw a shirt on. I kissed El on the cheek and walked downstairs to make breakfast. I can't cook, but I wanted to make something special for her. I looked in the freezer and found some frozen pancakes. I put them on a plate and in the microwave. I got out the whipped cream and put a smiley face on the pancakes. I heard a yawn and turned around.
"Hey Lou...you're up early." Eleanor rubbed her eyes.
"Yeah, just making some breakfast. You hungry?
"Mmhmm. Thanks love." She sat down and started to eat while I made my own.
"So love," I started, sitting down across from her. "How would you like to go to that little cafe you liked in town for lunch?" She swallowed and answered.
"I'd love to, Thanks hun." She got up and hugged me.
"Why don't you go get ready? I have to go see the boys, want to meet there in an hour?" She nodded and went upstairs. I changed into a tshirt and jeans and texted Harry. "Harry, I'm asking her tonight. You still have the tux and the ring, right?"
Half an hour later, I had just changed into my tuxedo at Harry's house. I checked my watch and groaned. I was going to be late!
"Harry, man, thanks for everything. I really have to get going though!" I called to him, opening the door.
"Lou, wait!" Harry charged down the stairs. "Forgetting something?" He tossed me the ring box and and I caught it in one hand.
"Oh shit, thanks!" I ran outside, and he came after me, waving. As I backed down the driveway, he shouted, "GO GET HER, TIGER!" I laughed and turned the corner.
15 minutes. We were supposed to meet 15 minutes ago and El wasn't there yet. I started to get worried, but told myself she was probably stuck in traffic or something. I sat there for quite a while, sipping the water the waitress had brought. 20 minutes. Half an hour. 45 minutes late, and by then I was really worried. Suddenly, the door opened and two police officers entered. I thought nothing of it, and continued to wait for El. One of them started to have a hushed conversation with the lady up front, and another approached me. I looked up, confused.
"Mr. Tomlinson, you'll need to come with us," he said, gesturing to his partner.
"Why, whats happened?" I pushed all my fears out of my head as I asked him.
"There's been an...erm...situation. Come, you'll see." I stood up, filled with dread, and followed him. They didn't mention what or who was involved, but I was still scared. The officer led me to the police car and instructed me to sit in the back. We drove a few miles before turning on the siren.
When I got out, I felt the color drain from my face. In front of us was a truck, and the entire front half was totaled. The windshield was smashed, the hood was beaten and scratched and one of the headlights was missing. The part that scared me the most though was the skidmarks leading off the road...they obviously hadn't been made by the truck.
I saw an ambulance a few feet away and a group of paramedics gathered around the back. I sprinted over to it, scared out of my mind.
"Excuse me, can I get through please?" The woman who I had asked turned around. "No sir, I'm sorry...wait a second, you're Louis right? Go ahead. She look at me sadly and moved aside. I walked forwards and my stomach dropped. "No..." I whispered.
Eleanor was lying on a stretcher, unconscious.
