Walking

The front door slams shut behind me,
I set off walking down the pavement.
I dont know where i am walking to,
I just let my feet guide me.
I come to an open field,
The crops sway side to side in the light summer breeze,
Sun beams down and the rays hit my skin,
The knee high grass rustles softly as i wade through it.
I reach a dark, empty forest,
Trees loom over my head and stare down at me,
Echoes of birds squawking ricochet off the trees,
Twigs and leaves crack under my feet.
My feet now start to ache,
My body becomes numb,
My throat closes up
And my heart has to work twice as hard.
My lungs start to fail and my breathing becomes rapid.
My body starts to give up,
But i keep on walking.
I reach a dead end,
Pathways are blocked by brambles and nettles,
My only option is to turn back and walk home
But im too exhausted.
I fall to the floor and i just lie there.
I just accept my fate.
Life is a dead end.
