i awake. darkness is all i see. slowly standing, i look and listen. though i see nothingness, i hear. a voice telling me to run. i run. the voice doesn't stop, instead it is joined with another telling me to stop. confused i continue, fearful of both voices. the voices get louder and that how i know they're near. setting into a panic i hide, blending into the darkness. more voices whisper to me. all the voices get louder, i can no longer tell what anyone of of them says. it is simply noise. my head can't take it. i cant take it. i run. trying to get as far away from them as possible but it almost seems like they're everywhere. in front of me, behind me, next to me, above and below me. my body stops in a panic. i drop. tears roll down my face while i cover my ears trying to down out the noise. i beg to be left alone. the voices only get louder. then comes a bang, followed by another. sounding like a mix of a drum and door being rammed down. the voices and pounding get louder, closer. BOM BOM BOM. the pounding gets faster. my heart speeds up with it. my ears now bleeding, my head feeling ready to explode, my heart now jumping out of my chest. i let it out. a scream heard all around. lasting no longer than 10 seconds but loud enough to stop everything. slowly uncovering my ears i hear the voices and pounding no more. lifting my head i look around, tears falling with every movement. i am alone. i stand once more. i walk forward, cautious with every step. i walk for what seems like forever in this darkness. finally i see a light. i get closer, and closer. coming to i see a figure. a girl. the closer i get the more i can make her out. hair as brown as wet sand. a long dress flowing with the wind as she watched me. finally i am in front of her. she looks at me, smiles and doesn't say a word. but that's okay, because her smile tells me everything i need to know. her smile tells me i am safe, i am wanted, i no longer have to roam in the dark for i am found. her smile is warm and welcoming. a sight for sore eyes, this smile is like none i've ever seen. this smile is true and genuine, this smile, her smile, was mine. i reach out toward her and i am her. more so, she is i. i turn and see my friends and family, celebrating. chanting songs, some yelling my name, wanting me to dance, sing. i watch as i see them dance with one another, i watch as the drummers beat their drums to the beat. finally i listen, the noise is louder then any noise i've ever heard but it is not harming. it is peaceful, joyful. again they call me to join. so i go. i run.
