LUKE'S POV
I look up at her to see her face is almost unreadable. She looked broken, but has a look of awe almost. She continues to stare are me, until she suddenly said something that shocked both me and her.

"Luke, I wanna tell you about my past."

CARTER'S POV
As Luke broke in front of me, I felt something. Something inside my heart exploded. All the walls that I had spent practically my entire life building, all to ruble on the ground. This broke me, in a different way then what I was used to.

Luke looked shocked when I said that I wanted to tell him about my past. Honestly, I was a little shocked myself. I was scared; I haven't talked about it for a decade now. I have no clue how I'm going to react, but I was almost more scared of how Luke was going to react.

"O-Oh, okay," He said, adjusting his sitting position to where he was facing me a little more.
"Go ahead, whenever you're ready." He said, putting his fullest attention on me.

I took a deep breath and turned a little more towards him, hugging my knees to my chest.
"We-ell. When I was about 6 years old, my parents and I got into a car accident,"
I looked down and swallowed hard. Luke put his hand on my shoulder, silently comforting me.

", a really bad car accident. We were hit on the passenger side, where my m-mom was. My dad was driving and I sat in the middle. My mom had-"
I paused for a moment, not liking saying the word 'died'.

"-passed away on impact. My dad passed 3 days after. I stayed in the hospital for a few days, even though I had no serious injuries. I was almost completely unaware of what had happened until the day they shipped me to the orphanage."
I stopped for a minute; letting, not only Luke, but myself take a minute to process. I didn't look up at Luke, I didn't want to know what he thought or how he was reacting. I just continued to look down. His hand was still on my back, but it seemed to tense as I spoke.

I took a shaky breath before breaking the silence and myself, "T-They covered me. They d-died protect-ting me-" I started sobbing as Luke collected me in his arms.

My head dug into his shoulder as my body shook with cries. He started rocking back and forth, rubbing my arm and back, trying to comfort me. I felt a tear fall onto my arm, one that wasn't mine.
I looked up at Luke to see tears streaming down his red, blotchy face.

"I'm s-so sorry, Carter." He choked out, hugging me tighter. His head fell onto my shoulder as we just sat there, taking everything in.

"It's not your fault," Luke said after a few minutes of tearful silence. I adjusted so my head was resting on his chest, staring at my door, and his head laid against my own.
"They did what anyone would've done. Please, please don't blame yourself."

He ran his head through my hair as a few more tears fell from my face. I simply nodded my head, no longer trusting my voice.

After a few more minutes of silence, Luke slowly laid back, bringing me with him. After a while, my eyes slowly started to drift close as his hand went through my hair over and over again.
Luke left a gentle kiss on the top of my head as my eyes closed and my mind slipped into a silent, empty dream.

LUKE'S POV
As Carter slept, I sat and thought about what she told me. I was shocked, to say the least. I never would've expected that to happen to her, nonetheless her tell me about it. I was also sad. Our Carter didn't deserve to go through such a horrible experience.
I continued to lay there with her for a few minutes while I figured out what to do next. I wasn't sure if I should tell Ashton or Bryana; although it was their daughter, I feel like she should tell them when she's ready.

After a little while, I decided to get up. I slowly moved, trying not to wake Carter. I finally got up on my feet and I headed to the door, I looked back at Carter's sleeping figure. She looked so peaceful, so beautiful. I smiled before opening the door, leaving her to rest.

CARTER'S POV

I woke up alone on my bed. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, looking over at my clock to see the time; it read "3:47 P.M". Wow, I slept for quite a bit.

I stood up and went to the bathroom, fixing my hair up in a ponytail and going to the toilet.
I walked out of my room, seeing if I could find anyone.

I walked down the hall, hearing nobody in their rooms, and continued to go down the stairs. As I got more down the stairs, the more I heard people talking. I got to the floor and I heard someone talking in the kitchen. I walked to the door, slightly hesitating opening it. I conclude that it's Ashton and Bryana talking. Before opening the door, I hear a bit of their conversation.

"-the paperwork went through at the orphanage. Everything is completely official now, she's ours." I can hear the smile in his voice, a pause sounding in the room.
"That's great," Bryana paused for a second, her voice faltered in her next statement.
"Do you think she'll call mom and dad? Like, ever?" Another pause filled the room as I got slightly closer to the door, listening closely.
"I don't know. I hope so, but I'm not sure when. We need to give her time. Remember what Ms. Carlos said, she had a rough past and might take a bit more time to adjust than normal." I heard Ashton set something down and walk, to what I assume, over to Bryana.
"I'm glad we did this, Ash." After a few seconds of silence, I decide to enter the room.

Bryana and Ashton are hugging on the other side of the island; the look over at the door, both of their faces lit up with smiles at the sight of me.
"Hey, love" Ashton says, waving me over to come to him. I walk over to them and I'm brought in their hug, put in between the two of them. All of our giggles ring through the room for a few seconds, before the door opens again.

Calum, Michael, and Luke walk in the room, all of their eyes gaze at our bundle of bodies. After a few seconds, Michaels voice rings through the room.
"GROUP HUG" The rest of the boys joined the hug and we all started laughing.
In that moment I knew, this was where I wanted to be.
