It had already been about a week after we had the previous conversation. We were busy with our lives, as Gee was training for swimming tryouts, and I was keeping myself occupied with more BTS.
Each day passed with me worshipping all of them religiously. I was so broke, I couldn't even afford a single poster. One day, I did get a call from Gee. And it was strange, because she was a very busy person.
"Hey, Min?" She asked.
"What's up? Why are you calling me like this? Don't tell me you got fired...." I shook my head as I spoke through the phone."What? No, I called you because of something important. Remember the time we discussed moving to Seoul when we were old enough and had money? Well I think you're going to love this!! I found a shortcut. With this new job, we'll have tens of thousands of dollars within a week's time! And within a year, we should have at least a million, if not, more!!!"
"Sounds great. What's the catch?" I asked knowingly.
"You have to become a k-pop idol," she blankly stated.
"Haha! That was a funny joke, NOT! I am not going to become some plastic doll dancing in the palms of some creepy old men! Besides, I don't have the time," I was obviously lying about the time, but everything else was true.
"Come on, you said meeting BTS is your dream and you'd do anything to achieve it," she stated.
"Well, yeah but–"
"What are you waiting for?! Let's meet at the Starbucks on 24th Street downtown," she hung up.I looked down at my current clothes. There were stains all over them. I reluctantly hurry to my closet and throw on a skirt and a cute top. I brushed my hair as I picked up some sandles. In the end, I didn't look so shabby after all. I opened the garage and sent a quick text to my mom. She's a nurse and she worked late that night. Since I am a considerate daughter, I let her know.
As I walked down the sidewalk, I saw Gee and a woman at a table.
"Hey," I greeted Gee.
"Hello," the woman turned to me.
"Hi," I gave her a small smile.
"Min-Ji, meet Christina. She is from BigHit studios and heard about your singing and dancing days," I sighed as I knew what Gee was talking about."Ah, yes. Show choir was a nice hobby. I didn't have much of a future in it," I honestly commented.
"But that's not what your portfolio says. I also researched you, Miss Min-Ji. I know your style. The idol life is definitely for you. So, what do you say?" I let out a big sigh and looked up at their faces. Gee had an expression of excitement, while Christina wore a professional and neutral look which made it impossible for me to tell what she was thinking."You're right. I'll except," I gave in.
"Yes! Finally," Gee smiled.
"Here's the contract," I looked at the paper that Christina had pulled out.
"Just one more thing, a promise. Before I sign the contract," I looked at Christina.
"What's that?" She asked.
"The group I want to be in...more than anything...promise me I can be in that group," I slowly started.
"Okay, just name your pick! We can arrange anything for you,""Let me join BTS,"
