It was the 2nd of March and my mother and her boyfriend, Daniel, had just left for work. I had school in half an hour and I was nowhere near ready. I dragged myself up to my room where I pulled my long blondie/brown hair back into a messy pony tail and put some tinted moisturiser on. I hardly ever wore make up, it just wasn't my thing. I pulled on my uniform, black trousers (or skirt) and a white polo (or shirt) with my black converse. I took my father’s cross from my bed side table; my father had passed away 5 days before my 9th birthday. It had been nearly 8 years.  I clipped the chain in place around my neck. I stood staring in the mirror, my tan glowed in the light along with my rosie cheeks; my mum always told me I looked like I belonged in sunny America playing volleyball or something and not in miserable London reading books. I was never the athletic type, although I love gymnastics. I sighed loudly, grabbed my school bag and left.

I was never the popular one at school, but I was labelled as the shy quiet girl that everyone knew but never acknowledged. I was invisible. I sat down at my desk and pulled out my biology book. ‘Miss Rebecca Flemings?’ Mr. Bennate boomed. ‘Yes sir?’ I said. ‘You’re needed in the head masters office, pronto’ he said. There were a few whispers. Why would I, the quiet “smart” girl, be needed in the head teacher’s office? I guess I’d have to find out...
