Chapter 3: My First Day

Maya's POV

As Lexi was talking to Joey, I couldn't help but realize that when he smiles, his eyes light up and he has a dimple on his cheek.

How can someone my age be this freaking adorable!???

"Maya!" I was interrupted by Lexi punching me lightly. "Earth to Maya!" She giggled.

"Sorry, I was thinking about something." I trail off as I keep walking.

"What were thinking about? Just curious." Joey said as he smiled.

Dear lord, this kid is going to kill me with his smiles!

"Oh uh... nothing. Just about the homework that we had last night."

"Well, I have to go ahead of you guys, Charles said he was going to pick me up soon. So catch you later, M. Oh and see you around Joey." Lexi said as she waved at both of us and walked away faster.

"Oh, my mom wanted me to get your number." Joey said quietly.

"Are you trying to find an easy way to get my number Birlem?" I smirk. As I said this, I saw Joey get nervous. "Omg, I was just kidding. Give me your phone."

Joey gives me his phone as I put in my number. I decide to play with him a bit. I put my contact name as Maya😻. I give his phone back to him.

"Do you need my number?" He asked as I gave him my phone.

Joey's POV

OMG. I legit just got the cute neighbors number. And she fell for the trick. Sly move Joseph, sly move.

As I put my phone number in, I put my contact name as Birlem‼️💞. I give her phone back to her.

Maya's POV

As me and Joey enter the school, I see a ton of people staring at him.

Uh oh, here comes the one, the only, "Baby Ariel." Honestly nobody knows her last name.

"Hi! I'm Ariel! But call me Baby Ariel!" Ariel said as she walked up to Joey.

I roll my eyes and walk away over to Lexi and Charles.

Joey's POV

Who is this girl. I'm not gonna lie but she's pretty cute. But not as cute as Maya.

I see Maya roll her eyes and walk away, so I don't think that Maya and Ariel like each other.

Maya's POV

As I walk up to Lexi and Charles, I could tell that they were flirting. It was easy to see that Lexi was flirting because she would play with her hair.

"Okay, lovers. I'm here so don't show any PDA!" I say trying to be funny.

"At least I can find someone without being picky!" Charles said as he grabbed Lexi's hand and held it.

I have Joey, though.

"She has Joey, Joey Birlem, though." Lexi said.

Is this girl reading my mind? And that's why we're best friends.

"Who's Joey Birlem?" Charles asked, very confused.

"I'm Joey Birlem." Joey said as he came up from behind me.

"Wait, don't I know you? You're the kid that is famous on instagram? Yeah! I follow you!" Charles said excitedly.

"Wait! You're the one that followed me on Instagram?" I ask.

"Yup. That's me!" Joey said as he stuck his hands in his pockets.

Can this dude get any cuter???

The bell rings signaling us to get to first period. Thankfully, Joey has the same first, third, lunch, fourth, sixth, and seventh periods. So mostly the same schedule.

"Here let me show you the first class, the infamous chemistry." I say moving by hands around, wiggling my fingers.

Joey laughs. "How about we walk together everyday? That wouldn't be bad, right. Since we live next to each other." He trails off and looks away.

"Of course! Besides you're pretty fun to hang out with. Wanna come over after school today?"

"Oh yeah! My house is full of boxes, so it'll be nice to get away for a little bit." He said showing his big smile. We walk to class very close to each other while saying funny things and telling jokes.

Man, I bet everyone is gonna be all over Joey in a week.

Omg sorry i haven't written and updated in like 2 days. i'm bad at keeping track of when i should post. this story is my first so sorry if it sounds cringy at any part of the book. just a fair warning. again, thank yuh for reading and please give me a follow and comment what should happen next.
