Ch 1. Abandoned

Jae Hwa couldn't believe that her Ji Su unnie scolded her. It wasn't her fault that the milk fell on the floor.She was just hungry and wanted something so she had gone to the kitchen to search for some food.

Meanwhile Cho Yung who was playing with her friend came running and crashed into Jae Hwa who was pouring milk from the container.Instead of apologizing Cho Yung started bawling her eyes.. Ji su who heard the commotion from outside came rushing inside.

Immediately seeing Cho yung drenched in milk and tears streaming her eyes, she misunderstood the situation and thought the culprit to be 5 year old innocent Jae Hwa. And poor Jae Hwa stood there with her head bow down, taking in the scolding because she didn't wanted to be disrespectful to her unnie.

"Jae Hwa go up to your room and don't come back down till tommorow morning! You are not getting any dinner today." Ji su told Jae Hwa angrily. She didn't like Jae Hwa at all.

First of all she was the youngest in the orphanage and it was so hard to look out for a 5 year old when all others where between 9 to 12 years. Jae Hwa's parents had died recently in an accident when she was 4 years old, making her an orphan.

Being a North Korea citizen was hard enough. There was no surplus food in Ji Su's district plus where the orphanage is situated, Ryanggang province, the temperature could drop well below the freezing point during winters.

Ji Su was not a very mean person but she was desperate enough that she couldn't feed another extra mouth. So she decided to abandon Jae Hwa.

Later when everyone was sleeping.

Jae Hwa couldn't sleep at all. She was so hungry and tired. Moreover, she felt as if something was going to very wrong. She just could't shake up that feeling.

She heard someone walking outside the door. The door knob jiggled a bit and someone entered the room. Pulling up the covers till her head she hid herself.

Suddenly someone picked her up, Panicking Hwa shouted, "Aah-". Her voice muffled as the person covered her mouth. She realised that the person was carrying her downstairs. As the sheet was still up her head she couldn't see anything.

A wave of cold air hit her as the person took her outside.

"How much do you want?", a familiar voice spoke. IT'S UNNIE!!, Jae Hwa realised with a start and started thrashing. The cover was ripped from her head and she saw unnie standing in the front and an ajjushi with a mask holding her up.

Before she could ask unnie for help, Ji su spoke calmly, "Mianhe Jae Hwa but You need to go."

"But Unnie.." Jae Hwa uttered softly as her unnie gave some money to the guy, turned her back and went inside. Where am I going? Why did she leave me?

With a start the ajjushi started carrying her towards a truck. Jae Hwa started thrashing again and as a result he slapped her hard. A sound resonated in her head. He dropped her to the ground, the stones scratching her hands and legs.

Keeping a grip on her with one arm he took one handkerchief and bottle from his pocket. dropping the liquid on the handkerchief he put it on her nose.

Soon Jae Hwa felt her consciousness slipping away...

So this the first chapter it is. The unnie is so cruel. Uhu.

I feel bad for Jae Wha. Lets see what happens to her in the next chapter?
