Taehyung's body froze on the spot as his eyes took in each of his old group mates. His mind went blank, empty, as he couldn't believe that they were really there in his café. All six of them were looking back at Taehyung, some with equally blank faces, some with small and unsure smiles, and one with a stronger, more secure smile.
"Taehyung-ah..." A long forgotten voice made Taehyung look away from his old group mates. The one who had spoken was none other than Kim Sejin, BTS' manager. His voice was calm and gentle, one that would be used when approaching a timid child.
A movement from one of the members, Jungkook, caught Taehyung's attention, and his eyes immediately locked with the maknae's. Jungkook, one with an unsure smile, had taken a small step forward, making Taehyung instinctively move back, his back hitting the closed door behind him.
"Don't come near me," Taehyung spat at the younger male. Jungkook's smile washed away, replaced with a new one of hurt that angered Taehyung even more.
"Taehyung-ah, please..." Sejin tried to get Taehyung's attention back on him.
"Don't you dare come near me," Taehyung repeated, raising his voice slightly.
Despite Taehyung's obvious anger, Jungkook took another step forward, looking at the latter pleadingly. "Please, Taetae..."
"I TOLD YOU TO NOT COME NEAR ME!" Taehyung shouted as he clenched his fists. He could feel anger, pain, fear, and buried memories flare up inside of him.
Taehyung was not ready to meet them.
He didn't want to meet them.
Not now, maybe never.
"Jungkook, move back," a new voice, one that Taehyung was not familiar with, ordered.
Taehyung started to take deep breaths, trying to calm himself down. He couldn't break down just like that. Taehyung didn't want to show his old group mates who had abandoned him that he was weak, because he wasn't.
He wasn't weak.
He wanted to show that he was okay, that he was happy even though they had abandoned and had hurt him tremendously. Taehyung would make sure that they knew that he had survived, lived on despite the pain he had gone through.
And he would also make sure they knew that they were not welcome in his life.
"Hyung, but―" Jungkook tried to protest, but the unfamiliar voice cut back in.
"I said, move back."
Taehyung turned his head to look at the eighth person, not recognizing him at all. He dismissed his presence for now, his focus back on the maknae, who looked like he wanted to continue advancing.
"Jungkook, please. Do as you are told," Sejin said.
After few seconds of silence, Jungkook did as he was asked. He moved back slowly, putting some distance between himself and Taehyung, who had taken a step away from the door.
Taehyung ignored rest of the members and looked at the two older men in the room. "Why are you here? Why are they here?" Taehyung asked, his voice steady now that he had succeeded in calming down.
Sejin let out a sigh and gave the younger male a smile. "It's been a long time, Taehyung-ah."
"Don't avoid my question," Taehyung returned, his voice still and even while his eyes held all the anger and pain he was feeling.
The older male frowned, not expecting the treatment that he received from Taehyung. Then again, what exactly could he have expected after everything that had happened?
