You roll over underneath the covers, lifting your chin to look at your dog. He sits on the hardwood floor, wagging his tail.
He lets out a sharp bark, his floppy tongue hanging out of his jaw.
He looks to the door, and there you see.
Your dog staring at you from the doorway.
The same exact dog is curled against your bed.
The dog at the doorway, barks, then turns back to the hallway.
It pads away, leaving long clawed scratches in the wood.
