Seeing Double

Prologue

July 1995

A woman in a black coat hurriedly made her way to a building carrying a little bundle in her arms, close to her chest. As she ran, the sky was crying, the rain falling to the ground with great ferocity. Just like the sky her eyes were doing the same, her tears streaming down her face. It was as if the sky was crying with her.

When she reached her destination,  she slowly lowered the bundle and placed it on the ground. She reached inside her coat and swiftly took a letter. She was silently crying as the sobs racked her body. She placed the letter on the bundle and gave the bundle a soft kiss which lasted for a while not even enough to show her great affection and love. Her heart ached painfully in her chest.

She made her way to the door and rang the doorbell a few times. The ringing echoed deep into the night. Tears blurred her vision as she ran away from the heartbreaking scene and slowly ran to her car and drove into the dead of the night.

The woman drove as fast as she could past the blurring trees and into the woods, when a roar of an engine caught her attention and soon two cars appeared into her vision and chased after her. The two cars matching her own pace. Her heart throbbed in fear as she tried to escape her impending fate. A heavily tinted car reached her side, when suddenly the window opened and a masked man pulled out a gun, his fingers dangerously close to the trigger and soon enough a gunshot rang throughout the woods as the two cars escaped the event.

Her chest was bleeding heavily,  the blood flowing non stop. She felt her heartbeat decelerating.

"At least she is safe and away from a terrible darkness awaiting her."
The woman thought,when she remembered something terrible happening, as she closed her eyes, her body slowly succumbing to the darkness.

"Maybe we weren't meant to meet in this lifetime." She thought as her chest heaved as her breathing became shallow. She took in her final breath as her eyes closed as her body went limp.
