It's a Good Life

Chapter 1

I wake up to the sound of the alarm clock, beep beep beep. Its January 29th 2013 Today is the first day back at school from the summer holidays. Today is my first day of year 12. I had to move schools again so it is also my first day at a new school. So many new things in one day, its overwhelming. I'm not sure if i can cope with all this pressure. I know this is my 3rd High School, but it is scary everytime. I am so nervous i feel like the world could crumble at any point right beneath my feet.

The new house is overwhelming enough on its own, plus new city, state, country and school... its frustrating. I feel like every time I finally make friends at a school I move again. This time I moved from Simpson Prepatary School, in Miami Califournia, USA to Petersons High in Adelaide, SA, Australia. Its so much colder here and its supposed to be summer. I find it hard sometimes being an only child because every new school I go to I am all alone. I met some neighbours and found that my "friend" Piper goes to the same school as me and is in some of my classes. So at least I am not alone.

On my way to school, I get lost. I check my phone and instead of being in Summerton, I ended up in Sumston. I dont know where I am. I saw someone wearing the same uniform I am, excpet he is wearing the male version. I get out the car to ask him. "um Excuse me" i say "hi i am lost i need to get to Petersons High, could you help me."

He looks over at me and I see his beautiful brown hair that falls over his misty blue eyes. He is the most handsom boy i have ever seen. "Yeah i can help you. May I?" He reply's in a deep sexy voice gesturing towards the car.

"Sure" is all I can say. "I'm Rose, I just moved here from Miami."

"Awesome, I'm Sean. Thank you for saving me from walking to school. Turn right here."

"Am I right in assuming that you go to Petersons aswell?"

"Yeah I'm in year 12."

"So am I. Now I know 2 people."

"Who else do you know? And left around the round a bout."

"Piper. Piper Christen."

"I know her. Thats my mates girlfriend. He talks about her none stop. Its annoying. He talks about her like Gus talks about Hazel to Isaac. Sorry, I'm just quoting my favourite book."

"The Fault In Our Stars is my favourite book too."

"I'm starting to like you more. And left into the student parking lot. Hey do you want to sit with us a lunch? It will give me someone to talk to..."

"Sure. I'll see you then. Thank you for the directions."

"Thank you for the ride. Catch you Later Rose."

He walks away and I am sure that i am in love.

"Hey." I hear someone call out. I turn around and see Piper. "Hey" I reply.

"So I hear that you drove Sean to school today, is there something going on..?"

"Firstly no I just needed directions. Secondly I hear you have a boyfriend..?"

"Yeah his name is Mitchel but i call him Mitchy. He is H.O.T. I love him" Then she goes into a whisper "and I'm not afraid to admit it, unlike some people." Then we walk to Pre-Calc together and I am greatful that my first lesson of the year is something i know.

At lunch I sit with Sean, Piper and "Mitchy". I eat and talk to Sean while watching Piper and Mitchel make out and it looks painful for Piper. Sean and I talk about work, timetables, jobs and what its like in the USA. After a while Iget sick of watching Piper and Mitchel make out and say "Okay I'm going to leave before I throw up. You coming?"

"You Bet Ya." he reply's and we leave.

"Anything would be better than watching that. It looks so painful." I state which is the truth. I dont hear a response but I see Sean nodding out the corner of my eye.

"Whens your next free period?" he asks

"um, after lunch. You?"

"After lunch. Want to go to Maccas?"

"Sure I'll drive."

We spend our free at Maccas then both head to biology.

At the end of the day I drive Sean home. Before he gets out the car he says. "Look. I really like you, as a friend, and tonight I pick my car up from the shop, would you like me to drive you to school tomorrow?"

"Yeah" I reply "Here is my address." I write it down in his note book with my phone number. "Call me if you have trouble finding it." He gets out the car and I drive home. In my mind I am screaming "YES YES YES!!!!!"  all the way home.
