The ship swayed with the strokes of the waves against the now old mistreated Wood, the full moon was at its peak, it was a Little bit past midnight, the warm breeze of the Caribbean ocean caressed your body as the jackdaw pierced the night with a constant pace and there you were sitting right at edge of the railing of the forecastle deck. A melody came back to you from the whispering sea.

~ Cruel and cold like winds on the sea, Will you ever return to me
Hear my voice sing with the tide, my love will never die. ~

-what you singing lass? -A familiar voice drew your eyes away from the deep blue, almost black of the night sea, just to find a crystal clear water in his orbs, Edward Kenway, the captain of this beautiful ship.

-Just a song, old as time I guess... -You answered smiling faintly at him, like an invitation for him to join you that he gladly accepted with a cocky smirk and walked right at your side. -It's more of a story really, you know... -You returned your gaze back down to the calm water, how you missed to be honest, you were on it, but you missed being inside it, that nostalgic feeling made your face sink a little in nostalgia. -Just like sailors, we mermaids have our shanties too. -Finishing that sentence you felt a soft touch on your back turning again to face him.

-And what is the story about, I'd like to hear it. -He tried to distract you from your imminent sadness by asking curiously, his hand sliding slowly down your back to then be hanging in the wind as the forearms of the pirate were laying on the railing, his gaze lost in the horizon.

-Well...It's about a goddess and a sailor... like yourself. -You playfully touched his shoulder and fixed your eyes on the horizon too, the darkness made a beautiful scenery for the story that you were about to tell. -The goddess was daughter of atlas, Calypso was her name, and she alone reigned these black tides you see, all sailors loved and feared her, but since she was just half divinity, her mortal part fell in love... with a man... -You felt a little pinch in your heart, her story wasn't very different from yours now that you come in count, you cleared your throat a little before continuing. -A sailor named Davy Jones, and so big was her love, she entrusted him the task of ferrying all the poor souls that died at sea to the other side and for this, he agreed to only set foot on land every ten years. -Edward looked back at you, eyes wide open in surprise.

-I would go crazy, where would he get rum from? -The pirate joked making you laugh a little as well as himself did, "just women and rum right? Such a good pirate", you thought to yourself. -Sorry, sorry, go on. -He finally stopped laughing and let you proceed.

-Well, even though it was a lot of time, he was willing to do that and if their love was true, then soon enough a new captain for his ship, "The Dutchman", would be found. But... -You made another pause, now moving your gaze to the moon hugging yourself almost embracing the pain that poor man must have gone through. -Every time he landed, she wasn't there, no matter how long he waited, the half goddess was just as unpredictable as the sea himself, a hole in his chest was carved, and when he heard about the Pirate Brethren, Davy Jones plotted his revenge with them by imprisoning Calypso in a mortal body, taking her away from her kingdom. -You felt another jolt in your heart, just the thought of being apart from the sea, was painful to you, even now it felt so close yet so far, it was maddening. -And just like any man, soon he realized the terrible mistake he made, the guilt and grief became so great he couldn't stand it anymore and ripped his own heart from his chest, both literally and symbolically. -You touched your chest in that moment, feeling your beating heart underneath your (S/C) skin, such a heavy burden must have been to do that.
