Some of you may know that I am writing a book (and thinking about getting it published).
I really want a good shot at getting it published, so I'm not putting the whole story on Wattpad.
However, I really need other people's opinions.
So...this is the first chapter. I'm not putting the title, because I'm paranoid that way.
Thank you to QueenOfSecrets1308 and H0ITh3r3Fw13nd5 for giving me the push to do this.
Here we go!

Amber, the Spy
If there was one thing that bothered me the most about moving into the "rich" neighborhood, it was the parties. Back in my small hometown where I grew up, I never would've passed up a party. But here, about to be sitting with five stuck-up teenage girls from school, I would rather have wrestled a python...but, honestly, there wasn't much of a difference. Reluctantly, I knocked on the door of the hostess's, house but there was no answer. As I waited, I flashbacked to the conversation that had led me here...
We were sitting in my adoptive parents' enormous living room. I was sprawled out on the the plush overstuffed chair, while my parents had claimed the leather couch. I glanced at the enormous chandelier that hung from the ceiling, basking in the sunlight streaming from the windows. I still couldn't wrap my head around how rich my adoptive parents were.
" Amber, you need to make some friends," my adoptive father said.
"But I do have friends," I said. "They just happen to all be secret service agents and spies. We meet for brunch every Thursday!"
"Amber, you are a teenage girl. And every girl needs friends her own age," said my adoptive mother.
"What about Chase? He's my own age," I asked. "And since when do you care so much about friends?"
"First of all, it's a mission thing. And second of all, you need to boost your social status! Playing cards with Lars Chiles, the president's bodyguard, and the secret service isn't going to help," said mother. "Also, someone has taken a certain liking to you."
"Forget social status!" I exclaimed. "WHO has interest in me?"
"We aren't allowed to tell you unless you complete the mission. A mission I thought we didn't agree to!" exclaimed father.
"Well, I thought Amber could use some fun. And besides, the cat's already out of the bag!" mother shot back.
"Ok, I guess we can let her," father grumbled reluctantly.
"Just give me the mission!" I exclaimed, exasperated.
"Thought you'd never ask!" said mother. "The Agency has reasons to believe that five girls from your school have started a jewel smuggling ring. We need to gather information and evidence, if any. Call Liam if you need help!"
"Got it," I nodded. "But does is have to be Liam? He's in a mood."
"Well, I suppose you could call Ch-" mother started.
