"Daddy, are you gonna coach the team this year?" Angelica says

"No Angie, I don't have enough time with work and stuff." Said Alex

I sighed as I walked right into a watery ditch at the soccer field. Nice going. This was Angie's second season playing soccer, she was the best on her team. Goalie. Never missed a shot. My team, not so much. Haven't won in... well... ever. Angie was the sporty one of the family.

"Hey you guys, there's someone I want you to meet from work." Alex said.

I looked up and down at her. I had met a lot of people from my Dad's job, but none had given me this strange feeling. I have even met his boss, George, and it didn't have this aura of weirdness. She had long curly hair, with a black pencil dress, and dark sunglasses. I couldn't see her eyes.

"This is Maria." Alex said

"Hi.", Philip and Angelica said in unison.

"What adorable kids you have Alexander!"

I shook her hand, making a mental note to wash my hands later.

"And this is her daughter Susan."

Susan looked to be about five or six, very petite. She didn't have a soccer build, she looked as if she never played soccer at all! I re-thought. Why am I judging them so hard?! Maybe she wants to learn how to play soccer?

As I watched Angie block shot after shot, sitting on the soft grass, I notice my Dad and Maria lingering behind me talking. Now, I am pretty much a professional eavesdropper if I do say so myself. But I didn't hear anything. I knew that they were talking, but about what?

What am I doing? Why should I be eavesdropping? It's probably about work stuff right? No reason to worry.

"KICK THE BALL!" I shout to Susan, looking around with a look of absolute fear when the ball is kicked to her. I face palm as Susan kicks it to an opponent. I'm sure Angie feels the same, because she starts kicking at the dandelions on the ground, sending seeds into the sky.
