"This cant be the undead, I mean, thats a movie thing." Hayes said, running his hand through his hair.

"I think it is. I dont want to be sure of it, but I am." I said quietly.

Hunter sat in a bed in the cabin. we were in the one closest to us and farthest from the main camp. Amy sat with him, calming him down. he was getting sick. and like in the movies, thats a sign of the virus.

"Liz, can you find some water for us? there has to be a water bottle somewhere." Amy said. I nodded and fumbled around the room, in the bags, in the bathroom, everywhere I could. I found nothing.

"I didnt see anything." I remarked in a stressed tone.

"can you and Hayes go look in the room next to us?" Hunter said in between heavy breaths.

"we can try." I said. I checked my pocked and felt my small swiss army knife. my only weapon. I pulled it out and held it in my hand. Amy stared at it.

"keep that with you. stay safe." she said, she pointed to the door and Hayes and I slowly walked out.

we walked slowly and quietly to the cabin next to ours. I heard a quiet moaning coming from the room. Hayes and I looked to eachother and he shook his head no. "we have to do it." I whispered as quiet as possible. "what if he dies? what if we die?" he whispered back. I shrugged my shoulders and put my hand on the door handle. I turned it slowly and opened the door. it let out a long creak. I saw an unsteady figure face away from us. after the creak sounded, it was now facing us. it had a disfigured face. like it had been torn off. it was bloody, it looked so unreal that I thought it was fake. it started limping limping towards us when I saw a full water bottle behind it. "run." Hayes said, I assumed he was going to make me distract the 'thing' and he will grab the bottle. and hopefully save me.

so I ran. I didn't think. I ran. The 'thing' got faster and ran after me. I picked up my pace as it picked up its pace. it was still limping but it was fast. Not like night of the living dead at all.

I saw a tree that I could try to get in. I climb trees all the time at home, but for fun. This isnt fun at all. I jumped and grabbed onto a limb of the tree. the 'thing' chasing me grabbed my ankle as I pulled myself up. my adrenaline was rushing and I managed to shake the disgusting hands off of my ankle. I got all the way in the tree and was panting like a dog after running on a hot day.

I looked down and saw the human figure trying to climb in the tree. I looked through other branches and didnt see Hayes. I knew he wouldn't come to find me.

I layed my head back and steadied my breathing, while listening to the snarling of the so called "zombie." I don't like the sound of that.

im all by myself, in a tree, a zombie underneath me, and no weapon.
