After playing Snakes and Ladders, we bought waffle sandwiches (Choco-hazelnut for him and blueberry cream-cheese for me) and lemonades then started eating at the grass.
I finished my waffle sandwich and asked triumphantly, "Who's the winner now?"
"Allison's the winner. Arthur's the loser," he said while chewing.
"Hmm... You're right that I'm the winner, but you're not a loser. Doesn't mean you lose, you're a loser. You'll only become a loser once you give up, once you stopped trying to do your best and from what I see, you're not that kind of person." I said, genuinely.
He finished his waffle sandwich and asked, "How are you sure I'm not that kind of person?"
"I'm not sure, but you did the Spiderman on the zipline and only a very few people are crazy enough to do that. I even know those other people and none of them have a condition like heart disease."
He looked at me and said, "Thank you Allison. I really had fun" Then he smiled.
Rain started pouring from the sky and I said, "Let's go. I know a place where we can stay for a while"
We are already both soaking wet when we reached the wooden shed, which is two blocks away from the park. Inside the shed is a small desk and a single bed.
"This used to be a place for hunters, but nobody really goes here anymore," I said
"That's probably why this place looks sad," He said and we sat beside each other on the edge of the bed. I took out my mirror and looked at myself then I wiped my face with tissue to remove the make-up that has spread all over.
Looking at myself in the mirror I said, "Hah. Now I'm back to my old plain boring self with dull looking face and hair."
"I think your face is more beautiful without make-up because I can see the real Allison. The girl who is simple but also extraordinary in her own way and I like your natural wavy hair, which reminds me of calm sea waves that are subtle, but shines under the sun." He said, sincerely.
I dropped the mirror on the floor and turned to look at him. He is staring directly at me with a genuine smile on his face.
I can feel my cheeks burning and my heart beating rapidly inside my chest.
"Nobody has ever said anything like that to me before," I said and it's true. I've used the curse to a lot of people already, but none of them said anything like that.
"I think I have fallen in love with you Allison" he said softly.
The curse. This is the work of the curse. I know it's the curse that is making him say these things, but somehow I like hearing them from him and I suddenly feel so alive.
"I feel the same way" I said to him with the same softness on my voice.
We leaned towards each other, until our lips met and we kiss fiercely. Our mouths are moving urgently and our tongues found each other. I pulled him closer as we collapse on the bed and he's on top of me, then he pulled away.
"We should stop there. I don't want to rush. I don't want you to think that that is all I want from you. I really want to get to know you more." He said.
I was surprised, but I am not offended and I am actually flattered that he wants to get to know me first. I really think he's a nice guy and I feel like he respects me. I am even starting to like him more and that's what I am worrying about. I should focus on my goal to make him enjoy falling in love with me and I can't let myself fall for him.
"Okay, let's just talk to know each other more" I said.
"Okay, let's start then."
We lied close beside each other and talked about the things we like and our families. I told him that I like things that glow, singing, and eating sweets. I also told him about my sister who is now in a different country.
He told me that aside from reading, playing board games, and trying exciting new stuff, he also likes arts and crafts. I also learned that both his parents died in a plane crash two years ago and it's just him and his brother. When I asked him why he didn't tell me about his parents earlier, he said he doesn't want me feel bad for him and I told him that I admire how tough he is. After talking, we fell asleep beside each other, until the morning came and we woke up smiling at each other.
"Good morning beautiful," He said softly.
"Good morning Spider-Tarzan" I said, giggling.
"Don't you think it's too early to make fun of me?"
"Nah. I'll do it anytime I want."
"Come on. I think we should both go home first. Your parents might get worried."
"Okay then let's meet again at 12:00pm. I'll give you my number so you can contact me." I said and I typed my number on his phone.
"Okay. See you later," he said and kissed my forehead.
We went home separately after that. I made an excuse to my parents that I stayed with my friend to do our project and my clothes are wet because it rained when I'm on my way home (Luckily, it really rained). Another fortunate thing is that it's Saturday, so we don't have to go to school today and tom.
